Albert W. Hoover

York - Albert W. Hoover, 82, passed away January 12, 2021. He was the husband of the late Patricia (Herb) Hoover. Born on July 7, 1938 in Grey, Pa, he was the son of the late Earl and Ruby (Johnston) Hoover.

Albert previously worked as a draftsman for Buchart Horn and York International. After retirement he worked as a greeter at Wal-Mart.

Albert leaves to cherish his memory, three sons, Albert Hoover, Jr, Robert E. Hoover and Andrew J. Hoover; daughter, Rebekah Sandridge; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and brother, Earl Hoover. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Yoder and Reba Dunkleberger.

A viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 4p.m.-6p.m.at the Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. 822 E. Market Street York, Pa 17403. Burial and graveside service will be on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11a.m at Prospect Hill Cemetery with Pastor Shan Clek officiating. Family and friends are invited to meet inside the gate on Pennsylvania Ave at 10:45a.m. The Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc. is entrusted with the arrangements.

Hi Abbie, I’ve been awake since 3:00 am. Started thinking of you and my mom (Reba) your sister. You and my mom were miracles (Angels) on earth. You both accomplished far more than doctors said was possible. My mom even had children which they said was impossible. To have gone through so much at very young ages and grew up to be two of the most comforting people on earth is amazing. I’m so honored to have been in your lives. I will miss you both. Love,Rob.

I always remember Mr Hoover with a smiling face and fun sense of humor! We would visit and swim in your pool . I drive past the home often these days and remember you all . I’m very sorry and my dad sends his sympathies as well.

Met him as he greeted the many who entered the doors of Walmart. He was a gentleman, always with an encouraging word and extended conversation which would cover a variety of topics, not to mention the deeper spiritual discussions we would have. He so loved and spoke often of his family. I am sure all who knew him will miss him and his smile and twinkle in his eye. Mr. Al, enjoy greeting all those you are meeting in heaven.
