Donald Ford Obituary

Dr. Donald "Doc" Ford, 77, of Wann, OK passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.
He was born on August 15, 1935, to Rufus and Lily (Hampton) Ford at Noxie, OK; the only person ever born in this town. He grew up in the Wann area where he attended Whitwer and Oakdale Elementary Schools, graduating from Wann High School in 1952. He attended Coffeyville Community Junior College where he graduated in 1954.
He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
On December 26, 1956, he married Betty Jeanine Hayden in Miami, OK. During their marriage Don attended Oklahoma State University Veterinarian Medicine School where he graduated in 1961. After completing his Doctorate in Veterinarian Medicine they moved to Montana & South Dakota where he practiced, before returning to Oklahoma.
Don taught veterinary medicine at Oklahoma State University in the fall of 1965 and spring of 1966.
In 1979, Don established Ford Veterinary Clinic in South Coffeyville, OK, where he practiced for 33 years.
Don and Jeanine had two children together, Patricia Rae and Robert E. Lee Ford. Jeanine preceded him in death on November 7, 1993. On January 22, 2000, he married Judith K. Pool of Coffeyville, KS.
He is survived by his wife, Judith Ford of the home; one daughter, Patricia Rae Ford of Blue Springs, MO; one son, Robert E. Lee Ford and wife Alicia of Kingwood, TX; one step daughter, Kimberly Johnston of Bartlesville, OK and one step son, Kevin Pool of Coffeyville, KS; three grandchildren, Cole Garrett, Dylan Dean of Kingwood, TX; and Michaela Jeanine Ford of Blue Springs, MO; three step grandchildren, Anna and Emma Pool of Coffeyville and Jack Johnston of Bartlesville; one brother, Ronald Tell Ford and wife Charolette (Clayton) Ford of Lemmon, SD; two nephews, Nathan and Jeb Ford; four special cousins, Jay, Cheryl, Will and Chelsie Slaytor.
He was a member of Oakdale Assembly of God in Wann, OK, the Oklahoma Veterinarian Association and the American Veterinarian Association.
Don was an avid fly fisherman and loved bird dogs. He shared many memories with neighbors, friends and clients.
He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Jeanine.
Following Dons' wishes; cremation has taken place and no memorial services planned.

Another old friend from Oakdale,Wann,and Timberhill,We were the same age so I was raised up with him as kids and went to School with him and as kids spent a lot of time with him and his little Brother Ronald Tell.The Fords were nice people,I remember when they moved from Noxie to the rock house when Donald was a small kid.
