George Pfleiger Obituary
York - George M. Pfleiger, Jr., age 93, of York, died at 1:28 PM Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at UPMC- Memorial. He was the husband of the late Phyllis M. (Hess) Pfleiger.
Born October 13, 1927 in York, he was a son to the late George M. and Thelma (Stoner) Pfleiger, Sr. He had served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, and was a newspaper carrier for 52 years and retired from York Machinery and Supply Company. He was a lifetime member of Mt. Zion United Church of Christ as well as a lifetime member of Hawk Gunning Club and Viking Athletic Association.
Mr. Pfleiger is survived by a daughter, Debra A. Barshinger, and her husband, Kenneth; two grandsons, Jason A. Barshinger, and his wife (Jenifer), and Matthew D. Barshinger; a great granddaughter, Isabella Barshinger; a brother, Richard Pfleiger; and a sister, Patricia Ogle.
A public visitation is scheduled for 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Workinger Semmel Funeral Homes and Cremation, 849 East Market Street, York. A private funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 AM Friday, January 29, 2021. Service will be live streamed at www.mtzionucc.org/other-events.html
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Zion United Church of Christ, 1054 Ridgewood Rd, York, PA 17406.
