Janet P. (Cantler) Sowards of Red Lion, entered into God's eternal care at her residence with her daughter by her side on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at 9:15 am at the age of 82. She is the wife of the late Robert R. Sowards who died on December 30, 2005.
She was born in Delta on June 3, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Raymond W. and Netta J. (Mactaggart) Cantler. Janet was a homemaker for most of her married life. She did work in the wood working industry for a few years. She enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. Her family was very important to her and spending time with them. She adored her grandchildren and especially loved to dote over her great grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Ron R. Sowards and his wife Gina of Lake Wales, FL, and a daughter, Brenda J. Wolfe and her husband, Don of Felton. She was the grandmother of Alyson Scheib, Christina Patterson, Michael Sowards and Andrea Rollman and the great grandmother to Taran Patterson, Camree Patterson, Drew Scheib and Brynn Rollman. Janet was one of thirteen children. She leaves three sisters, Isabelle Coley of OK, Margaret Johnson of MD and Lydia Victers of Delta and a brother, Leslie Cantler of York along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
Viewing will be on Wednesday, July 19th from 6-8 pm and Thursday, July 20th from 9-10 am at Burg Funeral Home, Inc., 134 W. Broadway, Red Lion, PA. A Service of Honor and Praise for Janet will begin on Thursday at 10 am at the funeral home, with pastor, Brian Willison officiating. Burial will follow the service in Slate Ridge Cemetery in Delta.
