Jennie P. Ritter

YORK Jennie Pearl (Johnson) Ritter, 82, passed on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at the York Hospital. Born on January 23, 1933, in Evergreen, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Ethel A. and Harry A. Preston. She retired from York Housing Authority as a Housing Manager and from WellSpan as a switchboard operator. Mrs. Ritter was a member of the Jehovah's Witness Springdale Congregation. She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Joanne Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif., Ruth Johnson of York, Dorene Johnson of Dover, Ada Don Martin of Philadelphia, and Keeley Johnson of York; and son, Milton Eric Ritter of New York, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Ruby Baitman of York; three nephews; and one niece. She was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Chapman, and two nephews. The Celebration of Life service will be on Saturday, September 5, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the Jehovah's Witness Springdale Congregation, 50 W. Cottage Place, York 17401, with Brother Robert Lawson officiating. Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery, York. Gladfelter Funeral Home, Inc., York, is in charge of arrangements.
