John Mellinger Obituary

DALLASTOWN John R. 'Brother' Mellinger, formerly of York, died Sunday, March 9, 2008, at Manor Care Dallastown. He was the husband of Virginia Dare (Woods) Mellinger. A viewing will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown. A graveside service will follow at Dallastown Union Cemetery with Pastor Steven Schmuck officiating. Mr. Mellinger was born September 28, 1926, in Dallastown, the son of the late Martin P. and Mary (Grove) Mellinger. Mr. Mellinger was employed by Teladyne McKay for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1998. He attended Red Lion Bible Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Martin Mellinger of York and Linda Lake of Dallastown; three stepdaughters, Linda Mortorff of East Prospect, Holly Daugherty of Delta and Vicki Lehman of Mt. Wolf; two sisters, Mary Herbst of El Paso, Texas and Clara Barshinger of Dallastown; and a number of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by two stepsons, Robert E. Bisker, Jr., and Jeffrey Bisker. Mr. Mellinger's family has suggested that for those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Red Lion Bible Church, 105 Springvale Road, Red Lion, PA 17356.
