Roy Schaefer Obituary

YORK Roy M. Schaefer, 96, formerly of York Township and Red Lion, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2013, at Pleasant Acres. He was the loving husband of Romaine (Keener) Schaefer, Red Lion, his wife of 73 years. He was born October 4, 1916, in York Township the son of the late Frank and Sarah Ellen (Flinchbaugh) Schaefer. Roy was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, Jacobus and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from Borg Warner in 1973 after 35 years of service and while employed there, he was a member of the 25 year club. In addition to his wife, Roy is survived by his son, Lennis Schaefer, York, two grandchildren, Jan Schaefer and wife Deb, Winterstown and Kira Kazinski and husband John, York, four great-grandchildren, Bradley and Melissa Schaeffer and Katherine and Kimberly Kazinski and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with Rev. Ray Hatcher officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Salem Union Cemetery, Jacobus.
