ELLERBE, N.C. — Roger James Green, 65, of Ellerbe, passed away Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017 at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Green was born July 7, 1952 in Richmond County, a son of the late Lonnie James and Agnes Ola Moore Green. He had taught middle school math and science and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
Surviving are his wife, Gay McQueen Green of the home; children, Amy G. Jones (Caison) of Jefferson, Matthew Green (Heather) of Ellerbe; grandchildren, Wil McDonald, Bryson Green, Thomas Jones, Olivia Jones, Charlotte Jones and Ella Jones; and a sister, Darlene Price of Old Hickory, Tennessee.
A service to celebrate Roger's life will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Concord United Methodist Church, 1131 Concord Church Rd., Ellerbe, NC with Pastor Caison Jones officiating.
The family will see friends following the service at the church and at other times at the home.

My deepest sympathies to Gay and family on Roger 's passing. I have so many memories of the friendship I had with Roger growing up at Concord Church, attending school together and singing with Roger! He was a true friend and very special person!
