Douglas Goodman Obituary

Doug Goodman passed away on Sunday; December 23, 2012 was born on November 8, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas. He graduated from Topeka high school in 1966 and from Kansas State University with a degree in electrical engineering in 1971. After college, Doug began a masters program at the University of Arizona.
His work career began in 1972 at the GM proving grounds in Mesa, AZ. On April 1, 1985, Doug married Linda Pixley. Their first son Robert was born in 1986 and their second son Michael was born in 1990. A desire to be his own boss caused him to leave GM in 1987 to run his own rental equipment business in Prescott, AZ. He returned to Mesa, AZ in 1990 and began working at Kett Engineering as a manager. In 2002 he found his dream job in Yuma, AZ, and worked at Trax International as a Test Operations Department Manager until his death. Doug was an avid hobbyist and athlete. He loved model planes, motorcycles, dune buggies, boating, and camping. He played tennis, flew airplanes, water skied, snow skied, swam, scuba-dived, and skydived, and finished first in his age group in the Arizona Ironman Triathlon. He also was an accomplished musician and singer. The love, caring, and pride that Doug had for his family spilled over to his friends and co-workers. He always could be counted on do what was right, never did anything half-way, always was the first to help others, and never lost his wonderful sense of humor.
Doug will be missed by his family, his friends, and his co-workers. He was an inspiration to all of us, and the world is a poorer place without him. Services will be held on January 9, 2013 at YGP Chapel at 4pm. In lieu of flowers donations can made to Mary Kay Friday Leadership or Scholarship Fund http://www.cdss.org/general-donation.html

I enjoyed all my time working with Doug when he was at Kett in Mesa. He inspired confidence and always showed great intelligence while still being warm and personable. I will miss running into him at the YPG when Gyro's was the lunch special and working together in future Lego League Tournaments. He was a true inspiration for many. God Bless.
