Mark Wilson Obituary

Mark Houston Wilson II

February 11, 1986 - April 3, 2024

Mark was born on Coronado Island, CA and raised in Yuma, where he spent most of his 38 years. He was the beloved son of Mark H. Wilson, Lynda Lutz, and brother to Melyssa Pendleton.

He remained single and is survived by his father, mother, and sister Melyssa (Benjamin) Pendleton; aunts, Martha Menta, Pamela Wilson, Johnnie Wilson, Roberta (Lewis) Hippach, Angela (Brad) Viles, and Maria (Chris) Ferrante; as well as many cousins, and two nieces.

Although being raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and choosing to be baptized as such, he followed a different course in adulthood, but never forgetting those roots.

Mark returned to Yuma after living in the Phoenix area briefly, working at Lute's Casino and helping at a variety of drinking establishments in numerous ways. His last position was with JV Smith Farms, traveling between Yuma and Salinas, CA.

He began his fascination with cars early in life, and entertained a shortlist of dream cars, at one point a '69 1/2 Shelby topping the list. He had a penchant for organization and spatial order, so he was always the one to pack the trunk of the car when leaving town. Mark enjoyed football and growing up had some favorites beginning with the Cowboys, then the Vikings and most notably the Packers.

Mark was known by many and seemingly loved by all. A memorial in honor of Mark's life will be held at Cafecito Yuma, located at 176 S Main Street in downtown Yuma from 5pm - 7pm on Sunday, June 2nd.

Hey Mark,

I went to school with you many years ago. It has been so long, I couldn't even tell you which class, or even what school it was. What I can remember, is that I enjoyed your company.

Seeing you around town throughout the years prevented me from losing that memory, and I regret not trying to talk to you.

I saw an article you were missing and thought to check for an update today. Finding out you passed away was the last thing I wanted to see. My thoughts go out to you and your family during this time. Thank you for leaving a positive impression on me and I am sorry this happened.

Mark,

I looked forward to seeing you every summer! Seeing you and your sister was the highlight of my entire year. You don´t know but your love and laughter saved my life, more times than you know.

Your presence was like sunshine on my dark days. I remember fighting over whose team you would be on during kickball because you could kick the ball over the house.

I remember being so excited when you got your growth spurt and we´re taller than big Mark because you could pick the oranges at the very top of the orange tree.

I remember the beauty of your laugh. It always warm my heart and gave me a deep appreciation for God´s work. It was like through your caring spirit I could see a reflection of him.

I looked up to you and you were so perfect to me in so many ways.

Mark , I love you and will never forget you. Every day you´re gone, I will miss you!

You were truly an amazing human! I hope you are at peace. I hope that one day I can hold you in my arms again and tell you how much I love you.

It´s so hard know you not here. Some mornings I feel like I can´t breathe. I remember a phrase you used to tell me. Every time I was in trouble or emotional as a little human you would say " The lessons make you beautiful ".

I didn´t what that meant until much later in life... I just want to thank you for your kind heart, loving spirit and gracious soul.

My friend, my support and my loving cousin! You will always be in my heart.
