Cheesie was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Jewel Grace Gissendaner. He is survived by his daughter, Debra O'Donnell (Royce); son, Ron Gissendaner; grandchildren, Matthew Barsema (Christine), Michael Barsema, and Melissa Brundage (Adam); 6 great grandchildren, Jacob, Rachel, Hannah, Sofia, Hudson, and Grace; sister-in-law, Wilma Sisson; sister, Lucille Bouse; brothers, Bud Gissendaner (Lois), Pete Gissendaner (Shirley), and Robert Gissendaner (Diane).
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Johnson Mortuary with Steven Drollinger, nephew, officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Yuma www.*hospiceofyuma*.com/

Uncle Cheesie and Aunt Jewel made a "Difference in my Life".
I always looked forward to going to their house and staying with them. They were both so loving and nurturing to me.
Deb and Ron you are both like sister and brother to me. Love you so much. You are in my prayers for peace, strength and comfort.

I have so many wonderful memories of my sweet uncle Cheesie and aunt Jewel. I am so happy that we all grew up together in Yuma. Ron and Debi may God be with you at this time and know that we will all be together again :) Love you always.

We have wonderful memories of meeting you and Jewel in Farmington prior to Mom and Dad's passing. You two were thought of often by them, remembering the visits you made to them in Elk Grove, CA many years ago. Walk with those loved one who have gone on before you and enjoy the family reunion.
