Mary "Opal" Stoneking Clapper

NEW CONCORD: Mary "Opal" Stoneking Clapper, 94, of New Concord, passed away at Beckett House, Saturday, June 30, 2012.

She was born, September 19, 1917, in Noble County a daughter of the late Willis Allen and Olive Jane Pickenpaugh Stoneking. She was a wife of a farmer and a homemaker. Opal was formerly employed by Essex Wire and was a care giver. She was a member of Sugar Grove Church, Blue Rock.

She was a graduate of Belle Valley High School, and was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes. She enjoyed watching sports and game shows on T.V.

She is survived by sons, Carl Wayne Clapper of New Concord and Willis (Judy) Clapper of Columbus; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; also surviving are a sister-in-law, Alice Stoneking; and many nieces and nephews.

Special people who helped with her care in later years were, Mark and Shelly Welsh, Jimmy Willey and Sue Farris.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. Clapper, whom she married September 19, 1936, and who passed away November 21, 1997; and a son and daughter in law, Eugene and Grace Anne Clapper; and sisters, Lola Wilson, and Hazel Hayes; and a brother, Charles Stoneking.

Friends may call Tuesday, July 3, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Mock-Miller Funeral Home, 63 West Main Street, New Concord. There will be no calling hours on July 4. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 5, at the funeral home with Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating. Interment will be in Zanesville Memorial Park.
