Stephanie M. Johnson

Stephanie M. Johnson a lifelong resident of San Leandro died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family at the age of 92 on October 24. She is survived by her husband, Alex Johnson, sons Edward and Tony Ferreira, sisters Julie Shattuck (Calvin) and Joan Porter, and brother Marcus Cannizzaro (Millie); many grandchildren, includ-ing Heidi Schmidt and Michael Hill (Sheila), as well as numerous great grand-children, nieces, nephews and cousins. Son, Darrell Ferreira, brothers Angelo and Mario Cannizzaro, and sisters Rose Janke and Sue Dubuque predeceased her. Stephanie worked in a secretarial capacity through-out her career with many varied employers in the Bay Area finally retiring from the Oakland School District. Stephanie was a woman of many interests and talents. She loved gardening and often canned the fruits and vegetables her garden produced. The year she decided to plant pumpkins she grew one weighing over 400 pounds. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter garnering recognition and awards at the Alameda County Fair. She was a graduate of the culinary school at Laney College and could create meals and desserts for her family worthy of the finest chefs. Stephanie was kind and loving and her absence will leave a hole in the hearts of family and friends. Visitation for Stephanie will be held on Wednesday October 27, from 4pm-8pm at Grissom's Chapel/Mortuary located at 267 East Lewelling Blvd. San Lorenzo. A vigil service will be held on Wednesday at 7pm at the chapel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 28 at 10am at the chapel with entombment following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Hayward.
