Mon. 2 / 6 / 23...a little over a month hence...
To know JOYce was to love her...she was a dear, loyal friend to all and always a hoot to be around & with! I never met anyone who didn't truly like her from the jump...
She was forever eminently proud of being a Northmont Thunderette...I used to kid her that--like Ms. Havisham in Dickens' classic novel, GREAT EXPECTATIONS, [brownie points here from our outstanding NHS English teacher, the late Dr. Eloise Rosser] JOYce would still be proudly sleeping every night in her Thunderette uniform for the rest of her life !
I never once had a bad word, let alone a bad time with JOYce...she was an unforgettable character in my life.
She was proud to be the youngest daughter of the former Mayor ["Whitey"] & the First Lady of Union. She was also the younger--sometimes begrudging but admiring--sibling of Maureen Aukerman, ne'e McLaughlin; & sister-in-law of Keith Aukerman--both also Northmont graduates--and was a devoted, proud, loving [great] aunt.
For years, JOYce tirelessly served the Northmont community--which she truly loved--as a district speech & hearing therapist. Next, she would drive BY HERSELF into some of the roughest areas of Dayton to patiently try to help stroke victims, etc. regain their respective speech. Talk about a courageous Angel of Mercy!
JOYce, thank you with all my heart for all the smiles; belly laughs; fun; jokes; gags; sincere, nearly life-long friendship; etc.
Knowing JOYce was genuinely a JOY...to be her friend, was an honor & a privilege...save us a laugh, Girl !
"Thunderbolts ALWAYS loyal & true!"
&
"Buckeye Nation!"
Now fly high, Angel, in eternal, heavenly peace...

I loved Joyce. We worked together in the early 80´s as therapists in a school. We became great friends and traveled together to Vegas, Clearwater, etc. and she visited me in coastal Ga. After I moved from Ohio in 1995, our times together were fewer, but still precious. The pics are from 2019 and sometime in the 80´s at a Reds reunion of sorts in N. KY. I miss Joyce very much and treasure our memories.

Our condolences to Joyce´s family and friends. We remember that spunky spirit of hers.....and that makes her memory bright. Love, Ralph and Joyce
