Robert Ormsby Obituary

Robert G. Ormsby
Suffolk - Robert George Ormsby, 93, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2012. He was the son of the late Caroline and Henry George Ormsby. He was predeceased by his wife, Lucy Trundle Ormsby.
Mr. Ormsby graduated from Westtown School in Westtown, PA in 1938. He worked at the Chalfant Haddon Hall Hotel in Atlantic City, NJ, moving from pantry boy to Assistant to the Head Waiter. He moved to the Tidewater area where he worked for Burroughs Corp. (renamed UNISYS) as a Field Engineer for 37 years until his retirement. Living in the Liberty Spring area of Suffolk, VA, he began raising miniature horses and could often be seen in the yearly Christmas parade driving a wagon pulled by his miniature horse.
He was a charter member of the VA Poultry Breeders Association.
Survivors include his daughter, Gwynne Ormsby of West Chester, PA; son, Glenn Ormsby of Smithfield, VA; granddaughter Amber Powell of Chesterfield, PA; grandson Ty Ormsby of Newport News, VA; and brother Henry Ormsby of Kendal, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 115 Bogart Street, Franklin, VA 23851. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.

Bob used to come repair our machines at the Bank of Manteo, and was always of good cheer and very helpful. May his family be held in God's loving hands.
