Eva Ormsby Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory - Souderton on Feb. 24, 2026.
Eva Eugenia (Dauger) Ormsby, 99, of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, formerly of New Providence, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her residence in the presence of her daughter on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Born in Sacramento, California, Eva was the daughter of the late Alfred B. Dauger and the late Ruth M. (Sutton) Dauger. She graduated from high school in Sacramento and went on to earn her bachelor's degree from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts.

Eva devoted more than 20 years to her career as an elementary school teacher with the New Providence Board of Education in New Providence, New Jersey. She found great joy in teaching and made a lasting impact on the lives of many students.

In her younger years in California, Eva was an accomplished horsewoman throughout her teens and early twenties. While raising her children, she was an active member of the League of Women Voters in New Jersey. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed working crossword puzzles into her final days. In 1965, she famously drove across the country with her five young children and their family dog, Bullet-an adventure that became a cherished family memory. As a child, she loved camping with her father at Lake Tahoe, a place that remained dear to her heart throughout her life and which she chose as her final resting place. Eva also enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially football, baseball, and tennis.

Eva will be remembered as an intelligent and independent woman, and above all, as a devoted and loving mother.

She is survived by her four children: Diane E. Ormsby of Harleysville, PA; Earl Lee Ormsby III and his wife, Diane, of Hillsborough, NJ; Ruth Ann Ormsby and her husband, King Thomas, of Huntington Beach Harbor, CA; and Barbara C. Aspin of Ukiah, CA; as well as nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Wendy D. Ormsby; and her two brothers, Stanley B. Dauger and Hunter D. Bungay.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Souderton Charter School Collaborative, 110 E. Broad Street, Souderton, PA 18964 https://www.scsc4kids.org/.

Arrangements are by Anders-Detweiler Funeral Home & Crematory, Souderton, Pennsylvania. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.andersfh.com.
