Benjamin Bailey Obituary

1961 - 2016
December 18, 2016

Benjamin David Bailey went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the age of 55. He was born on December 10, 1961 in San Antonio Texas. He was preceded in death by his father, Hugh Clinton Bailey, a San Antonio firefighter for 32 years. He is survived by his mother Valerie Martin Bailey and his son, Brandon Chase Bailey, of San Antonio, his sisters: Beverly Darla Salcedo of San Antonio, and Kristi Kaye Carr and her husband John Timothy Carr of Midland Texas, nephews: Steven Joseph Lucas, and Matthew Stone Salcedo of San Antonio, John Robert Carr and wife Vanessa of Lubbock, Aaron Scott Carr of Houston, and niece: Bailey Carr Elias and her husband Walker Elias of San Antonio, his aunts: Sharon Martin Turner and Mary Delight Martin Greenwell, and uncle David Park Martin, Jr. (deceased) all of San Antonio.

Ben attended Coker Elementary, Eisenhower Middle School, and was a graduate of Winston Churchill High School, all in San Antonio. He was the owner of Benjamin's Lockout Service for many years until disability forced his retirement several years ago. Ben was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf, watching NFL Football, and the San Antonio Spurs. He was a member of the NRA and a proud backer of the blue. He enjoyed cartooning, guitar strumming and song writing, and was an excellent cook. He enjoyed his computer and posting on Facebook and had many "friends" across the country. Ben was well known in his neighborhood for his willingness to lend a helping hand to his neighbors. Ben was a member of the Castle Hills First Baptist Church and was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ.

A private family Interment officiated by family friend, Floyd L. Lamrouex will be on the Turner Ranch in Blanco on December 22 at 2:30 pm.

A memorial service to celebrate Ben's life will be held on Monday, December 26 at 2:30 pm in the Grace Chapel of the Castle Hills First Baptist Church at 2220 N.W. Military Hwy. in Castle Hills.

The service will be conducted by Dr. George H. Harris, retired pastor of Castle Hills First Baptist Church.

Dear Valerie and family,

I am so sorry that I could not be there for Ben's memorial service, but you have been in my thoughts and prayers ever since I heard about his death. I will continue to pray for strength, comfort, and peace for all of you.

Still in shock Ben, thank you for the laughs, for the reminders that there are bigger and better things beyond this world, and just for being Ben Bailey, a true original. Rest easy pal, you earned it.....

God looked around his garden
And he found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
And He lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
He knew that you would never get
Well on earth again.
He saw the road getting rough and
The hills were hard to climb.
So He closed your weary eyelids and
Whispered "Peace is thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you the
Day God took you home.
Though the smile is gone forever
And your hands we cannot touch,
We will always have sweet memories
Of the one we lived so much.
