Lloyd John DeMartini Sr., of Belmont, CA, was born July 8, 1920 in San Francisco, CA. He passed peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Belmont, CA.
Lloyd was wed to Irene DeMartini for seventy years. Devoted father to Lenore Griffin, predeceased Lorrayne Wilks, Lloyd DeMartini Jr., and Loring DeMartini. He was the cherished grandfather to Richard DeMartini, Daniele DeMartini, Deanna Blanchette, Laura O'Reilly; step-grandfather to Joe Griffin, predeceased Stephen Griffin, Charles Dugan, Amy Bosco and Kevin Estes. A loving great-grandfather to Sara DeMartini, Breanna and Taylor Montgomery, Jonathon DeMartini, Jasen Blanchette, Collin and Cameron O'Reilly; step-great-grandfather to Paige, Charlie, Michael, Tyler and Brody Dugan. Doting great-great-grandfather to Hudson Mumford and Kendel James Dugan.
Lloyd was born to Italian immigrants, Celestina and Gerolamo DeMartini. He had an incredible work ethic that started at the age of 8 years old. He was a graduate of St. Ignatius College Preparatory and Bank of America Banking School. Lloyd was a man ahead of his time, a true renaissance man, believing that education was the real key to success. He used his education not only for himself, but to help others succeed in their endeavors.
Lloyd and Irene travelled extensively, spanning the entire globe; they spent their later years travelling to Italy to research our family's genealogy. He was able to write a book about our family's history, despite never knowing how to use a computer.
He will be sorely missed and loved by all those who have come in contact with him.
Services will be held at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, located at 1040 Alameda de Las Pulgas in Belmont, CA on January 30th at 11AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
