Elliott Lambert Obituary

Elliott Wayne Lambert, 91, resident of Somerville Tennessee, former Mainer, Air Force Veteran and husband of Janie S. Lambert, departed this life on December 30, 2023 to be with his heavenly Father.

Elliott was born in Sangerville, Maine to the late Floyd and Doris Lambert. Elliott graduated high school in 1950 at Piscataquis Community High School (walking 3 miles, uphill, in the snow). He graduated from the University of Maine at Orono with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1954. Elliott loved to fly thanks to his lifelong friend Charlie Starbird and quickly went on to USAF National School of Aviation Cadets and was accepted into the Officer Candidate School in the United States Air Force. Elliott was active duty with the Air Force for 20 years and then was a reservist with the Memphis Air National Guard for an additional 13 years and a lifelong member of the Tennessee Air National Guard and served his country in the Vietnam war. During his time in Dallas, Texas, he met his darling, Janie Semmes and they married on May 13, 1967.

Elliott was known for his unparalleled work ethic. He started his early childhood years working in the woods with his father and worked as a Square Dance Caller during his college years. After his retirement from the Air Force, Elliott went on to purchase a Poultry Farm in Somerville Tennessee and quickly learned that the poultry business was a 'fowl job'. He was always thankful for his lifelong friendships with George Adams, Cathy Dandridge and Alex Moore for their support anytime, day or night with the challenges of the farm. Elliott worked for Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home for many years and enjoyed scaring his daughters saying that he "just touched a dead body." After parting ways with the poultry business and funeral business, Elliott went on to start his stump grinding business called 'Eager Beaver Stump Grinding', 'satisfaction guaranteed or double your stumps back' and worked full-time until he was 88 years old.

Elliott will be fondly remembered for his commitment to Jesus Christ and was a member of the Somerville Church of Christ. He led his wife and 3 daughters to the Lord by being a kind, loving husband and Best Dad Ever. Elliott temporarily leaves behind his beloved wife of 56 years, Janie Lambert of Somerville, TN; his 'favorite' daughters Jenny Lambert Ashmore of Ellsworth, ME, Amy Lambert Ray of Fort Myers, FL and Sarah Lambert LaCour of Kenner, LA; his sons-in-law, Oliver Ray (Amy) and Stephen LaCour (Sarah); his grand-children, Quinten Elliott Daughtry (Amy); Rylee Ann Burns (Jenny); Logan Lambert LaCour and Olivia Jane LaCour (Sarah); and special friends Will and Kathy Tippit. He is reunited with his parents, Floyd and Doris Lambert and his sister Maxine Lambert Morgan and many dear friends that passed before him.

"To live is Christ; to die is gain." Philippians 1:21.

Memorial contributions may be made in Elliott's memory to the Somerville Church of Christ 15925 US Hwy 64 Somerville TN 38068.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 A.M. Thursday, January 4, 2024 at the Somerville Church of Christ. The Celebration of Elliott's Life will be Thursday, January 4, 2024 at 11 A.M. at the Somerville Church of Christ. Private Family burial to follow.
