Juanita Fly Obituary

Juanita E. Fly, one of the sweetest people on the planet, left us on Dec. 3, 2023, to be with her Lord.

She was born in St. Louis on June 26, 1927. She met M. W. 'Lucky' Fly there and married him in 1946. They lived in several cities and states before settling in Bonita Springs, Fla., where Lucky passed away in 2002. They had two sons, with the oldest, Thomas, passing away in 2015.

She continued to live in Bonita Springs, where she proudly spoke of being a greeter for New Life Church for many years. In 2018, she moved to Foxbridge Assisted Living in Memphis to be near her youngest son.

Juanita was known for her kindness, sunny disposition, helpfulness, generosity and, yes, hard-headedness. She never had an unkind word to say about anybody.

She leaves a son, Russell Fly of Memphis; three grandchildren, Aaron Fly of Naples, Fla., Jovita Gardner of Estero, Fla., and John Fly of Atlanta; five great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

A private graveside service will be held on December 21 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to New Life Church at 3971 Via Del Rey, Bonita Springs, FL 34134.

Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home, Family Owned Since 1978.
