James Scott Obituary

James Allen Scott, age 82, of Memphis, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024.

He was born June 30, 1941, in Memphis to Wallace Bennett Scott and Alice Patricia Burdick Scott. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1959 and received his bachelor's degree from Memphis State (University of Memphis). He served in the Air National Guard. James was a jack of all trades, and at various times worked as an FBI clerk, industrial salesman, Caterpillar, real estate agent, actor, woodworker, and courier.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara D. Scott; son, Matthew Scott; daughters, Amie Weaver (Ray) and Rachael Gist (Clint); grandchildren, Dylan Scott, Braden Scott, Dawson Hendricks, Jackson Gist, and Harrison Gist; and great-granddaughters, Emberlee Scott, Blakely Scott, and Riverlyn Hendricks.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4 from 9:30 AM until the Memorial Mass at 10:30 AM, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 8151 Chimneyrock Boulevard, Cordova, Tennessee. Committal service will follow at 12:00 Noon, at Calvary Cemetery, Memphis, Tennessee.

The family requests that memorial donations be directed to St. Francis Catholic School.
