Matthew Hurt Robinson

Matthew Hurt Robinson of Nashville and, originally, Memphis, TN has passed away at the age of 45.

Matt was born February 3,1979, in Memphis to Michael Anthony Robinson and the late Helen "Becky" (Brown) Robinson. Matt's proudest accomplishment in life is his adorable little redheaded daughter, Annabelle Coleman Robinson, who will turn 8 this June.

Matt spent most of his adult life working in finance in the New York metropolitan area, with stints at various hedge funds, including J. Goldman & Co. Early in his career, he assisted in creating a hedge fund replication product using ETFs (Exchange Traded Funds) that tracked the Hedge Fund Long/ Short Indices. Following the 2008 financial crisis, he shifted into the private equity industry. He spent time as a partner with AGI Partners, as an analyst/portfolio manager with the Rainin Group and managing partner of Chatham Investments.

Matt was an advisor to family offices and foundations and spent his later years providing advisory services within the "fintech" and "Insurtech" sectors, both on the capital raising and research / forecasting sides.

Matt graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Economics and a B.S. in Systems Engineering in 2001. He received his CFA certification in 2005 and an MBA in Finance from Columbia University in 2007. Matt joined a long and proud line of Robinsons, as a 1997 graduate of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tennessee.

Matt worked with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater New York and the Red Cross of Nashville, Tennessee. He traveled the world as a younger man, from Machu Picchu to Moscow to Vietnam and beyond.

Matt is survived by his daughter, Annabelle Coleman Robinson of Chatham, New Jersey, Father Michael A. Robinson (Cindy) of Memphis, TN, brother Ward Robinson (Brittan) of Memphis, TN and many loving cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen "Becky" (Brown) Robinson and sister Emily McCarthy Robinson, both of Memphis, Tennessee. Matt will be laid to rest in a private family graveside service.
