Jerry Davis Obituary

Jerry Wayne Davis passed away on April 25, 2024 in Bartlett, Tennessee at the age of 63.

He was born August 29, 1960 in Memphis, Tennessee. Jerry attended Bartlett High School and has held records in football where he rushed for 225 yards versus Fayette Ware in 1978. That is the seventh highest rushing yards in a game in school history. He was also part of the 1979 team that recorded two of the biggest wins in history - 42 to 0 versus Fayette Ware and 44 to 0 versus Bolivar. He was also part of the team in 1979 that is one of the best defenses in the history of the school - only allowing 74 points scored on them for the whole season. He started boxing at 9 years old and became pro by the age of 19. Jerry met the love of his life, Cynthia "Cindy", at the young age of 18 years old. They shared 41 years of marriage. During that time they became loving parents to Megan and Jordan and later he became Poppy to three grandchildren. Once he started his family, he started his own plumbing business, Advanced Plumbing Company.

Jerry was a dedicated man who always found joy in caring for his family and friends. He was known for being the life of the party and for his dedication to his family. Jerry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His hobbies included boating, going to the lake, camping, and building model cars. Jerry was very good at art and drawing. He loved drag racing and NASCAR racing and also loved sports: football - the Tennessee Vols and Dallas Cowboys, softball - team "Moon Dogs" and baseball - St. Louis Cardinals. He loved animals and animals loved him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Davis of Memphis, TN; his daughter, Megan Nicole Andre (Brennan); his son, Jordan Wayne Davis (Emilie); three grandchildren, Madelyn, Logan and Stevie Jean; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Tammy and Jeff Kelly; his mother-in-law, JoAnn Salvaggio Chumney "Mama Jo"; four sisters, Caroline Bingle (Jack), Beverly Hargett (Lynn), Tonya Michael (Terry) and Barbie Davis; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bedford Wayne Davis and Barbara Ann Davis; and his sister, Diane Davis Rush.
