Sue Eubanks Obituary

Sue Fowler Eubanks, wife of the late Thomas D. Eubanks, Sr. for 53 years, died on June 19 in her bed at "The Villages at Germantown", where she had enjoyed living for many years.

The daughter of C.D. and Margaret Fowler, Sue was born in Poteau, Oklahoma, and grew up in Weiner, Arkansas, where she was salutatorian of her high school graduating class. After graduating from Miss Wylie's Training School in Memphis, she worked in the bookkeeping department at Twentieth Century Fox, known as "film row," until she married Tom Eubanks Sr. in 1946. She and Tom moved to Searcy, Arkansas, where he joined his father in the insurance business but moved to Memphis a few years later when Tom began working in the lumber business. After their three children (Tom, Jim, and Laura) were in school, she was the secretary to the principal at Treadwell Elementary School until Tom Sr. started Eubanks Lumber Company and she left to help him. Sue was a longtime member of Lindenwood Christian Church, the Carl Stokes Class and the Friendship Class, a charter member of 4 Seasons Memory Inc., a member of the Salvation Army and several bridge clubs.

She is survived by her three children: Tom (Darlene) Eubanks and Jim (Debbie) Eubanks, both of Germantown as well as Laura (Robert) Armour of Waynesville, North Carolina. She had seven grandchildren: Heather Eubanks, Emily Mills, Rachel Eubanks, Rebecca Hamric, Amy Waddell, Daniel Eubanks, and Walker Coughlin. Sue also had eight great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank all her friends and staff at "The Village at Germantown" for all the support and enjoyable times she experienced while living there.

The family invites friends to gather for services Tuesday June 25, 2024 at 11:00 am at Memorial Park Funeral Home 5668 Poplar Ave Memphis, TN 38119 with a visitation prior starting at 10:00 am.

Ms. Sue was a member of the friendship Sunday School class. She would always sit by me when we were in a separate building at Lindenwood Christian Church and I always made it a habit to ask about her granddaughter Heather Eubanks?

I met Sue when my late mother and I ate Mother's Day Brunch with her and her granddaughter at The Village of Germantown. I last saw Sue in April when she saw saw me walk in the front door and caught my attention by yelling my name. She was always in great spirits and kind to everyone. I will miss seeing her smiling face when I visit my dad. Rest in Peace Sue.
