Phillip Edward Clark

Phillip Edward Clark, born on October 19, 1956, in Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on January 19, 2025. He was a beloved husband to Donna for 45 years and was cherished by his family. Phil was the proud father of two sons, Zachary and Ryne. He welcomed his daughter-in-law, Brittany, into the family with open arms and found immense joy in being a grandfather to his grandson, Aiden. He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Clark. He is survived by his mother, Janie Clark, who has been a source of strength and love throughout his life. He is also survived by beloved brother in-law and sisters in- law, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Phil's warmth, kindness, and dedication to his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Phil graduated from Frayser High School in 1974, where he excelled in baseball and basketball. He continued his baseball career art Jackson State Community College in 1975 – 1976. After finishing his junior college career, he graduated from Memphis State University while continuing his baseball career in 1977-1978. Known to many as Coach Clark, Phil, served thousands of students as teacher, coach, and athletic director at Skyview Academy, Germantown and Bartlett High Schools for more than 35 years. Finally retiring from Bartlett City Schools in 2023. When not serving others in the school systems he enjoyed golfing, snow skiing, spending time with his family, and traveling with his wife. After retiring from coaching, he found a new hobby of gardening and spending hours upon hours perfecting his pickle recipe. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 – 8:00pm on Friday, Jan. 31st at Ellendale Baptist Church at 3861 Broadway Rd. in Bartlett, TN. Phil's Celebration of Life will also be at Ellendale Baptist Church on Feb. 1st at 1:00pm. Living streaming of the Celebration of Life will be available on the Ellendale Baptist Church youtube channel or on the Bartlett High School Facebook.
