Carolyn Boggan Obituary

Carolyn Marie Bobo-Boggan was born May 4, 1952, in Memphis, TN. She was the fourth child of Ira Bobo, Sr. and Bernice D. Bobo. She graduated from Southside High School and thereafter attended Shelby State (Southwest Community College), and Memphis State University (University of Memphis) majoring in Early Childhood Education. She held various positions as an early childhood educator, and later went to work for Federal Express Corporation ("FedEx"). While there she won numerous awards for being an outstanding employee, and remained there for 28 years before retiring. Several years following her employment with FedEx, she worked as a resident manager for Grace Place, (a senior housing facility). Because of her innate love of children, she went back to work part-time as a preschool teacher at Porter Leathe. Outside of work, Carolyn took charge for many years as a fund raiser for the Alzheimer's Association, her favorite charity, and raised a substantial amount of money for the organization. She was loving and devoted and always put her family first. She found great pride in raising her son and grandchildren. She was often engaged in their school activities, PTA meetings, and participated in various school trips. She was a natural care giver and often tried to make a difference in the lives of others. She was compassionate, loyal and a dedicated person with a benevolent spirit. She enjoyed reading, shopping, going to lunch with her friends, and cooking. Her specialties included spaghetti, roast beef stew and cream cheese pound cake. Everyone knew not to come to the family gathering bringing those dishes, as she had taken ownership for them, and others competition weren't welcome. She became a member of Norris Road Church of Christ at an early age and later became a member of East End Church of Christ until her death. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, Ira Bobo, ll. She leaves to embrace her precious memories, her loving and devoted son, Rhomel Demond Brown (Cherika), grand-children, Rhomel D Brown, Jr., Jaden Brown and Ciara Brown, three sisters: Marilyn (John) Mayfield, Gloria J. McKenzie, Mary Bobo-Carpenter and one brother, Michael N. Bobo. She also leaves one sister-in-law, Judy B.Bobo, her loving nephews, Christopher, Fredrick, Marlon, Charles Il and Corbin, her nieces, Toni, Karen, and a host of great-nieces and nephews nephews, family and friends. She also leaves her former spouse, Julius Boggan all of Memphis, TN.
