Elizabeth Berry Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Liles Berry died February 3, 2025. She was born January 4, 1935, in Memphis, Tennessee to Mary Loyola (Ola) and Charles F. Liles Sr. (that's 90 years if you don't want to do the math).

Ann attended Little Flower Catholic School, Sacred Heart School, where she was valedictorian, and St. Joseph School of Nursing, becoming an RN. She married the love of her life, Joseph L. Berry, Sr., in November 1956. Together they built a life and worked together through life's challenges until his death.

Being a mother brought her greatest joy (and if we're being honest, her greatest frustrations) to Barbara Williams (Bobby), Charlotte Parry, Joseph Berry (Collette), Elizabeth Berry (her husband thought she needed a daughter named after her!), Robert Berry (Angel), and Margaret Reynolds (Patrick). That's six kids in case you lost count. She was Granny to Courtney Swearingen (Nate), Tucker Glidewell (Amanda), Abby Parry, Gwen Vawter (Wade), Dominic Reynolds, Ellie Reynolds, Levi Reynolds, Joseph Berry, and Margaret Berry. Her great grandchildren also called her Granny, Scarlet Steadman, Felix Swearingen, and Theodore Glidewell (that's 9 grandchildren and three great grand kids).

She was also the big, some said bossy, sister to Charlie Liles, Jim Liles, Bob Liles, and Linda Theriot; a trusted friend to sisters in law Annette and Karen; and a beloved aunt to 15 nieces and 13 nephews.

She was a lifelong Catholic and an active member of St. Louis parish for more than 60 years. She found comfort in her faith, praying the rosary daily, which she credited for getting her through difficult times (and parenting six kids).

Ann was a woman of great intelligence and curiosity. She was kind, feisty, stubborn, compassionate, and always willing to help.

Visitation will be held Sunday, February 9, 2025, from 3 to 5 pm with Rosary at 4:30. at Canale Funeral Home at 2700 Union Ave. Extended. The funeral mass will be held at 10am Monday, February 10 at St. Louis Catholic Church.
