Phyllis Cecil Obituary
Phyllis was born in Greenfield, Tennessee on January 28,1938 to Robbie and JD Ford. She graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin and moved to Memphis, Tennessee where she worked as a dietician for John Gaston Hospital. She was married to Billy Mack Cecil for fifty-two years. Her greatest blessings in life were her daughters and grandchildren.
To know Phyllis was to love her. She lived her life in the manner of a Proverbs 31 woman. She was known for her beautiful smile, joyful spirit, kindness, compassion, grace, and her servant's heart. She had a passion for giving and serving others. She was the most selfless person and was always thinking of others before herself. She was an active member of Emmanuel Methodist Church and was president of Ida Virginia Circle for several years. She also volunteered her time at the Church Health Center, Landmark Women's Club and Subsidium.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cecil. She is survived by her daughters, Jina Shoaf (Stanley), Dixie Weimar (Jonathan) and her step-daughter, Melissa Summerfield. Through all of life's obstacles she fought the good fight for her greatest loves, her six grandchildren, Hannah Summerfield, Jake Shoaf, Liza Shoaf, Madison Weimar, Molly Weimar, and Collins Weimar.
We will celebrate her life at Emmanuel United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 24th with visitation beginning at 12:30 pm and the funeral service at 1:30 pm. A reception will follow the service.
Burial will be Friday April 25th in West Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery.
If felt to do so, please wear your favorite leopard print in memory of Phyllis's amazing sense of fashion.
