I am a Patriot Guard Rider from Buffalo, NY and came across Aunt Marcella's tribute film. We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Spc. West, and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of freedom and liberty. Sadly, America has lost one of its finest heroes, the U.S. has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage, which they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Spc. West has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.

To the family and friends, of Spc. West, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to carry on. Just as you were always with him when he was deployed overseas, know that he will always be with you wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Spc. West was a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Spc. West the flag of the United States of America has your blood sewn into the fabric; it shall wave forever in your honor.

Freedom requires sacrifice the protected will never know.

To the family of Bobby West. I regret that I never met Bobby. Although we never met, he was my friend. He was my friend because he served the greatest country in this world, the United States of America! He was my friend because he stood for peace, liberty, freedom, democracy, love. He was my friend because he was a representative of the American Flag both here at home and abroad. He was my friend because his life was tragically stolen from him, so that I could live in freedom another day.

To the family of Bobby West, tonight I shed a tear for your loved one. I want you to know that I as an American truly and sincerely appreciate Bobby's sacrifice. I will never forget Bobby West, or those who fell before him, or will fall tomorrow, in the pursuit of freedom, justice and liberty.

It is my hope and prayer that you will find peace in knowing that your loved one touched so many lives in ways that you'll never know. I am but one of those lives!

May God richly bless you!

I served in Bobby's company in Iraq on his last tour. I have watched the tribute to him on youtube quite often, and show it to soldiers who are going overseas so they know to take the deployment seriously, and to respect those who have been overseas. I am stationed at Ft. Campbell now but carry the names of the men we lost in my heart. Bobby is one of them and I will never forget them.

To Bobby's family I would like to say how sorry I am for your loss. Its hard to believe it has been almost 3 years since that terrible day. I was Bobby's squad leader in Iraq and was there when he was killed. Evryone in our platoon loved Bobby. He was a great soldier and I was proud to have served with him. He is not forgotten and lives on through his friends and members of his platoon that shared his life.

I would like to say that I apologize for taking so long to sign this guest book, for CPL West. I am an active duty Chief Warrant Officer CW2, serving currently at Fort Bragg, NC. I grew up in Vilonia Arkansas and have been to Beebe countless times. I never met nor knew Cpl West, but I totally understand his bravery and commitment to not only serve his country, and his family. He also made the state of Arkansas very proud. I would like to give you all my deepest condolance's, because I know just what it feels like to lose a member of your family. I have served two tours in Iraq myself, just to come home and lose both of my parents in a car accident. I am confident that Bobby and my parents are looking over us and smiling. I hope that you find peace in your heart and know that every thing that happens on this earth is GOD's will and in time we will all understand the reasons, and get the answers to all of the questions, that I myself have asked him so many times. I will keep your family in my prayers, and may God Bless you and your family. I salute CPL West for his unselfless service, duty and Honor to this great nation, and may he forever rest in peace.

My deepest condolences to the loved ones, family, and friends of Spc. Bobby West. I have just watched the PGR tribute created by Marcella, in fact, I think I saw it a year or so back, but, at the time did not acknowledge it being in memory of Spc. West. I too am a PGR and have ridden on many, many missions over the last two years. But, no matter the number or the location or the rank, the experience of being allowed to honor these Heroes is always overwhelming. It is overwhelming because one is in the presence of a Hero, a rare occurrence in this life. Peace be with you all.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Bobby, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

CPL West was attached to my platoon (1st Platoon, D Co, 1-22 IN, 1Bde, 4ID), the day he was killed. I wasn't with them on the day it happened, he and his crew took my crews place as we were cross attached to each others respective platoons. If that wasn't the case, it would have been us there and it would be myself or my crew in his place. So, thank you Bobby, because of your sacrifice, I can see my children grow up. And, I'm sorry, for you sacrifice should have been mine or one of my crew members, and I will never forget that you took our place. Though I didn't know you as well as I should have, you will always have a special place in my heart. Rest In Peace.

Bobby... well its been a year and a half and i havent signed this yet. u were my best friend and i know i was yours. like those holidays you couldnt go home so you came to my families house. Remember all those weekends for 2yrs straight that we went to houston just to get a good Crown and Coke. My favorite memory of you was when we were at the club and we were dancing with our friends and like 5 guys tried to fight us and i was down to fight but with your unmatching wit and charm you talked them out of it and you guys drank together all night. the day you were killed was the worst day of my life. when i was told it was by Ssgt. Dela Cruz and i colapsed and fell into a deep depression. i was on a check point when you were taken form us. i wish i was there to keep you from walking up to that wall. i wish you where at my wedding. i just wish that God never took my best friend away from me and his family. i will never forget BOBBY from BEBE. nor my best friend. I want to extend my sincere condolances to your family on your loss. We know your pain. On 23June2006 my niece's husband Cpl. Paul Beyer, 101st Airborne, was KIA by an IED. He and Calli had been married for a year and a half. They spent 3 months of that time together. Before he left he took out an special insurance policy. He told Callie if he didn't come back it was to pay for his little sister's college. Thats the kind of man Paul was.
The members of the Westboro Baptist Church showed up at the funeral but were never heard because the Patriot Guard was there. The sound of a Harley has a whole new meaning for me. It will forever remind me of Freedom and Sacrifice and Love for my fellow man.
Thanks be to those who gave of themselves to pay the ransom for the Freedom we enjoy. From Lexington and Concord to the sands of Iraq. They stand as brothers and sisters on sacred ground consecrated by the blood of the fallen.
Rest well Bobby and Paul. You did your job, did it well and we will remember you.

Spc Bobby West, Thank you for your loyal service to our great country, we will never forget you and all you have done so that we may live in freedom and have the things that we so greatly cherish. As a member of the West Virginia Patriot Guard Riders we Salute you and pray that you are at the lords right side,we also hope that the family knows we also feel the pain and sorrow ."Rest now Bobby your tour is over you have stood it well , we now have the watch"

August 8, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

For the last year, little cousin, you have been in heaven. What and who have you seen? No more pain, no more sadness, no sickness, no tears. I can't imagine what the last year has been like for you. I know that it is hard to believe for us that you have been gone for a year. We will see you again one day, and you won't bear the wounds of war, but the white robe of victory those who have trusted in Jesus Christ are given. We miss you greatly down here. You are always on my mind and in my heart. You are my hero, the reason we can sleep soundly in our beds here in the USA. Thank you for serving your country and giving your life. Tell your comrades with you thanks from all of us too. I love you, Bobby.

It does not seem like it has been a year when we all said good by to Bobby. A day does not go by that I don't think about him. My son Shane will never forget him or their close friendship. When Shane was home on leave in March he had a tattoo put on his arm. Bobby's full name and his birthday. May God be with you and your family on this day.

One year ago today we got the news from Iraq, our Soldier son called in very early morning...silence and shock, no words could express how heart broken we were then and now for both you and our son who lost his best friend. Please know you are always in our thoughts and prayers for strength and peace. May God hold you in His arms and comfort you through each day until you see your son again.

Please know how Deeply Sorry I was to learn of the loss of your Brave Young Soldier, Spc. Bobby R. West, one year ago,
As a parent, who has lost a daughter suddenly and having lost a brother to war, I am aware of the deep and devastating pain, that this past year has brought upon you.
The overwhelming heartache that seems to surface through our shock, as the time passes.
Please hang on to your Faith and know that you will get through this.
May Bobby Rest Safely, in the Loving Care of God and know that he is a True American Hero that Will Never Be Forgotten. I pray that the Peace of God will continue to be with the West family.

I am the sister, of such a Young Hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago. I sincerely hope that you can feel the thoughts of caring and support that surround you today and every day, as this Country remembers Bobby and his Sacrifice.
He Is A Hero to all of us.

Hope is not only the light we carry within...
it is also, what often carries us through...

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Truly sorry for your loss. Bobby was a friend and fellow soldier I was proud to have known and served with in Iraq. I knew when I was around him, he always had my back. I'll never forget his smile and his humor. I'll never forgot Bobby West...
