Dear Bowman Family,
One day during a heavy downpour, in Jacksonville NC, I found a memorial bracelet with your son's name on it( as well as Sgt Arechaga and Pfc Feniello. That was about a year ago and I still have that bracelet. I think of your son's sacrifice and bravery on that day and when I saw his picture today, I wish he was in your arms right now. Thank you for producing such a fine young man. This country is great because of families like yours. God Bless

To the family of Lcpl. Jon Eric Bowman, especially to his wife. There are no words to express your loss of your beloved son and husband. Today is Veterans Day 2008 and I wish to express that I would have liked for Lcpl. Jon Eric Bowman to be a Veteran and meet him. But we all know that he is in a better place with our Dear Lord God Almighty for Lcpl. Jon Eric is a gardian angel protecting us. I would have personaly liked to tell him... Thank You for serving in the marines for he gave the ultimate sacrifice. I am a high school teacher and I know several of my ex-students are now serving in Iraq and in Afganistan. Several of my ex-students are 21 years old just like Jon Eric. Two years ago he finally came home but in a very different way. His ultimate tribute and sacrifice will never be forgotten. I'm sure with many of the pictures Jon Eric's family has will always be cherished. I'm also a photograher and I have captured many family memories. I view Jon Eric's pictures, and I can tell that he has a great family that will never forget him. I, Armando Rodriguez from Mission, Texas wished to have met Lcpl Jon Eric Bowman and express my sincere thank you for his mission that he accomplished in life and as a great Marine of the United States. My wife and I along with the family express our condolences to the Bowman family and his wife. My nephew is also a marine and is in Iraq as well as many of my ex-students and I pray for them. I would like to pray for Lcpl. Jon Eric Bowman for he is a true hero. I am Catholic and I will light up a candle in his memory at a Shrine called, The Basilca of San Juan located in San Juan, Texas. I am writing all the way from south Texas and would like for everybody to know that every serviceman are our true heros. Every serviceman that is now with our Lord God Almighty deserves every respect in nature for they will never be forgotten. I hope to vist one day Sharon Cemetery at Sharon Community LA. , but I can't find the place in the map. I would like to place one day flowers on Jon Eric's final resting place. God Bless Lcpl. Jon Eric Bowman for all of his endevors. May he rest in peace and may God Almighty some how comfort the Bowman family forever. All my regards and prayers, Mr. Armando Rodriguez. God Bless You!

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Jon, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to LCpl Jon E. Bowman our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jon. And to Jon it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made in combat while serving the Corps and his country. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Jon, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,385 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jon’s family and loved ones.

Baby, I am thinking of you still everyday. You never leave my heart and thoughts. This never gets any better; especially today being our 3rd anniversary. I took myself out to eat today pretending that you were sitting with me; I know how that may sound, but it helps. Although my life goes on, my heart is still stuck in the past. I can't help but ask myself, "does this ever get easier" but I believe the answer is a simple "NO". Forever me and your family will live in sorrow of you loss. There is truely no way around it. But your memory overflows my thoughts and brings back happiness for me. I Love you with all my heart has to give plus some, forever & Ever my love. Your forever loving wife.

Jon Eric, tomorrow will be a year ago when I lost you...my love, my husband. What we had together was something most people never find in a lifetime and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I try and go on with my life but there is always "YOU" that is missing although I carry you with me in my heart. You were the greatest man I ever met, so heroic, shy, sweet, romantic, and always thinking of others. Baby, you were what I lived and breathed for and now it's like I have nothing. It was all taken away in a blink of an eye but I have to accept that it was your time. God needed you more than I. The only thing that keeps me going is knowing that the longer I live the closer I get to being with you again one day my love. But the next time it will be for eternity. You are truely my Hero, the love of my life. I love you with all my heart has to give baby. You are truely the stongest, bravest man I ever knew. I love you!!

Love your forever loving wife,

I can't believe that in a couple of weeks it will be a year since you have left us. I think of you all the time!! And I can't wait to see you again.I never got the chance to tell you how proud I was of you. YOU ARE MY HERO, and I know that you are watching over us. I love you Jon and miss you very much.

Love always your cousin,

August 17, 2007

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

“Paid in Full”
In Honor of The War Against Terrorism’s Fallen and Injured Marines

Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full

We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward

What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our minds we will cherish your lives

Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the few, the proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us

They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown

Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

i love you with all my heart. to me you are like my second parents. jon eric was my brother. even though i moved and me and jon eric never got around to doing as much stuff as we did he was always with me. we did talk on the phone when we could and everytime we would get off we would tell each other we loved each other. when i was deployed he called and that was his first words as soon as i answered. and to this day he is still my brother and i still love him and yall. please dont ever forget me, because you know i will never forget you love you always

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

May God Bless your family during this time. I Lost my brother 9/1/05
in Iraq (Ssgt. George R. Drauhn Jr. naive of Shreveport, La). I promise the days will get easier!

Thank you all for your kind words. I know that Jon was a proud Marine. He lived and died for what he believed in. He would be honored by all the kind words you have posted. We will always have a sadness in our hearts, but we know that Jon would not change anything. He was following his heart and standing with his "brothers". May God Bless and Keep You All. To the family of Lcpl. Jon Bowman,

I am one of the sisters of Lcpl. John Hale, also lost recently. I cry for you, as I cry for myself and my own family. As you'll hear many times for a while, there are no words that can express this sorrow. In my brother's words on his myspace, he said that if something happened over there we should know that he was not alone.

Jon is in heaven now and he is not alone there. He is at rest and out of this war.

I considered coming to the services, but I am just not strong enough right now.

May God Bless you and keep you safe.
