Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Matthew C. Bowe US Army Private 1st Class . We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son's sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

I didn't meet Bowe until I enlisted. We went through basic and medic school together and were both stationed in Drum. I was deployed with him in another battalion. I live on the border of PA and Ohio and even saw his name in a Pittsburgh Office building last year. I was deployed when I heard he was killed, my continuing sorrow goes to his loved ones. Regardless of anyone's views on the war, just know, from my first hand encounters, he did not sacrifice for nothing and he will always be a hero.

To SPC Matthew Bowe and his Family
My name is SFC Zul-Tan Jackson I. I am the Medical Platoon Sergeant for 1-89. Just wanted his family to know that we have NOT FORGOTTEN HIM. I did not know him personally, but I've heard some wonderful things about him. We have an Aid-Station at the Squadron Headquarters bldg where we have a picture of him along with a bio. To the parents of Matthew Bowe, we here in the Medical Section will NEVER FORGET HIM as he was an inspiration to many of his comrades. Our guys here bought a bouquet of flowers for Matthew which we hope will be delivered on his SPECIAL DAY to his parents. All next week, we will place a WHITE carnation on the aidstation door to recognize what he meant to the MEDICS and SOLDIERS of 1-89 CAV. We know he's in a very SPECIAL PLACE, and we miss him dearly. Please give him a warm hug from us all........1-89 MEDICS

My dearest Matthew,
Here we are another Christmas without you and it not getting any easier. I hope you like the wreath and we will be up to see ya again in the morning. As every holiday passes the more harder it gets to try and make sense of it all. Why did it have to be you not that id wish this on any other family. But you were gonna be a doctor and have a good life not one like we have had. You could have got your music produced and been the next eminiem who knows but you didnt have the chance to show us. We all miss you so much and we struggle everyday with knowing your never coming home again ever. They say keep the faith well its real hard when all i prayed for was for you to come home safely and it was shot down with that awful phone call.I hope more of your friends come to visit and as they do i will take them to visit you. We love you matthew and merry xmas to you in heaven. I know your with us all the time but please keep your other friends still fighting safe so their families dont have to live in our world of hell. Love ya Mom, Dad, Amanda, John Jr, Megan and Tiffany.....

Matthew,
As another memorial day comes i have been thinking and appreciating you and what you have done for your family and your country by fighting so we can continue to have "our freedoms." I know at times I miss you and that quirky laugh of yours, but even more how much you are missed; especially when I read all these comments or I see or talk to your mom,dad and siblings. I know that with your big caring heart that you are watching over all of us and will keep all of us safe. So in conclusion I thank you for your service, your love and all the memories I have of you.

Our hearts are broken and the pain is so deeply etched within us we will never feel any different. Im sry i cry all the time but you have to understand that my worst nightmare came true 3yrs ago and now i no longer sleep, dream or feel. To the Friends and Family of SPC Bowe, I was SPC Bowe’s medical officer during his tour and it is with great respect and honor that I write the following. Be assured he is well remembered and he will never be forgotten within the ranks of the 1-89 CAV. Although there are many new Soldier Medics in our Platoon, they are all aware of his great sacrifice for our country. His picture and lineage are posted within our Aid Station at all times, and, the Platoon procured an embossed metal sign which commemorates the Aid Station as the “SPC Matthew C. Bowe, Memorial Aid Station”. This sign was posted at Ft Drum while we were in garrison and is now secured outside of our Squadron Aid Station in Iraq. The sign as well as the memory of SPC Bowe’s sacrifice will be a part of the Medical Platoon lineage forever. A few months ago we transitioned through Camp Beuhring, Kuwait and the Medical Platoon painted a memorial stone in his honor.
It is this time of year that we pay our most humble respects.

Bowe, you are greatly missed. May God bless your family.

February 19, 2010

Mattew,
Thank you for your service to keep us free. You chose to serve at a time, when serving is voluntary. Yet, you chose to serve. You will never ever be forgotten. You will always be honored for the great patriot that you are. You stand in Heaven with the Fallen Heroes that have gone before you. You are admired and respected. But mostly you are missed and loved. God bless your family with peace and comfort.

I've been sitting here reading the tributes to your son, Lori. Wow. He really made an impact on the earth:) My friend lost her dad at an early age. She told me that she believes God calls you home when you can't get any better than you already are. So your son must be amazing:)The best always seem to go first, so my friend must be corect. Matt, I would bet big bucks that right now you are someone's outstanding guardian angel. Thank you for your service, and thank you for loving America so much that you gave her all you had. May God increase your strength, folks.

Demiz,

I saw your family today. Your mom's heart is as big as the universe. She tried to keep a smile on her face as I walked up the stairs to your house but as soon as I got there she gave me the biggest hug and I could feel her pain. We sat and reminisced about you, we cried, and we laughed. I sat there just staring at the wall with your picture and I kept wondering if you were watching us. I understand where you got all your ways. Your family. You spoke very highly of them and now i understand why. They are great. I saw where you get your sense of humor. I saw the people you love and who love you. I miss you. We all miss you. You are my hero and a great friend. You will always be in our hearts.

Dear Matt,

I could say that not a day goes by that I don't think of you and miss your childish laugh, deep lyrics, and great friendship, but I would be lying. The truth is not a minute goes by that I don't stop in my tracks wishing that I could turn back the hands of time to February 18th. Just like your chorus brother, it truly hasn't been the same and never will without you. Me and Vizun are working to put your stuff out. I finally met your mom and I must say she is one of my favorite people in the world.

I wish I didn't have to be typing these words and that I didn't find myself searching for answers every night. I know you are watching over us, comforting us, and probably even laughing at us at times, but know that I love you and miss you with all of my heart and will always cherish the friendship that we have.

Love,

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Dear matt

we love and miss you very much when we were in moon township you were always there to make us laugh and pick up our spirits (especially when dad did something to tick us off and there were many of those times) you always had a smile on your face and it was catchy because by the time you were done with people we were all smiling

thanks so much for making the ultimate sacrifice and for keeping us safe

We love you much

I just wanted to say that you and your family were in my thoughts this Memorial Day as my children and I stood proudly on the streets of Coraopolis waving our little flags. From a proud American, mother and daughter of a Marine Vietnam vet. Thank you for giving the ultimate sacrifice so my family can live free.

My dearest Matthew,
Not a day goes by that I don't cry since the loss of losing you. I love you and miss you so much my whole body will forever ache with such a pain that will never get easier no matter how much time passes. As days go by I sit at your side and always wonder why it was you and not me taken. I lived my life but yours had just begun. Always know that you will never be forgotten not only for your sacrifice but because your are my son and I love you deeply. You now are my angel forever watching over us as you always did and just know we are so proud of you for all you did. I love you Matthew and miss you lots.

Our condolences... our son & Matt were friends in school & worked out together before they both went seperately to basic training. Our son David asked us to say a prayer for Matt at my Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company Memorial Day Services. He also told me that Matt wanted to join our Fire Company... I will be honored to do so! God Bless Our Troops.

Matt, I know you hear the thoughts of your loved ones; so you know how hard it has been and that we haven't gotten over you not being here with us. I recently viewed some photos of you and your family,as tears ran down my face, I had several thoughts of all the good times we had while you were growing up, all memories I will cherish all of my life.I am so deeply sorry you were not able to achieve all the goals you had for yourself, but we all thank you for serving us proud doing what it is you loved- helping others when they needed it.Being so unselfish and giving all you had including your life to save those around you. Matt for this I call you my hero. Missing you ever so much, love you your uncle Bry

It is with the deepest sadness that I ask the family and friends of a brave young Soldier Pfc. Matthew Bowe to accept the offer of my most sincere and heart felt condolences. I hope that you know that your loss is shared and mourned by millions of Americans. Most of whom you don’t know and in all probability will never meet. We sincerely appreciate the sacrifices made by your patriot.

Freedom is not free; it is paid for by our heroes, and for those who fight for it, Freedom has a flavor the protected will never know! This soldier made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

I know the pain parents feel when they loose a child. I lost a son 19 years ago. It is a pain that defies description. It is a pain that never goes away. It is a pain that will never end. It is a pain that is all consuming.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

May God Bless and keep you today, tomorrow and forever!

Rest in Peace brave soldier; you did your duty with great honor, dedication, distinction and in the highest traditions of our great country.

I did not get the pleasure of meeting Matthew but I know he was an asset to the bravo troop family. My husband said he was a good kid. Ashley Dunkin is a great friend of mine and I have been with her every step along the way of this terrible tragedy. I know the pain I am feeling but can only imagine what you are feeling. Our hearts go out to you. I know that the bravo troop family was honored to have Matthew a part of the family. God speed! And God bless!

May you rest in the knowledge that you are shieled by the light of his love. A dear friend of mine lost her son, Sgt. Thomas Edward Vandling on January 1st this year. I saw the pain and also the love and I will pray for you and yours.
May God keep his arms around you and keep you strong. Another HERO ANGEL is watching over us. Thank you for the sacrifice you have made. Most Sincerely, Katie
