Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Ryan A. Bishop US Army Specialist.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

Hello my daughter plays for a softball team in Texas and they wear a jersey in remembrance of a fallen solider. She was honored to wear SPC Ryan A Bishop on her jersey. We would love to be able to get in contact with his family to dedicate this jersey to them. Thank you for your service and sacrifice you made for me and my family.

Dear Mr. Bishop,

We just wanted to let you know we still think of you and your son quite often. You have been in our prayers and we were excited to hear that God has sent you a special gift recently! May He continue to bless you and keep you.

We miss Ryan. Evan knew him well and we wouldn't be together had it not been for Ryan. We never thought anything like this could have happened, especially to Ryan, but we were sadly mistaken and it is hard to think of him and know we won't see him here on earth again.

In my heart though I really feel he knew Jesus and was saved and he will be waiting in heaven for when we all come home.

I am thankful for his sacrifice, but very sad that it had to come at such a price. We know he touched the lives of many people and we will always love and miss our friend.

In Christ,

I miss my best friend.
Even though he is with me, and I grow more like him each day,
I miss my best friend.

I think of the jokes,
the good times and bad.
The times when we realized
we were all we had.
His smell, his smile,
the way he said
"Mel, you're all I need. I love you my sunshine, and I"ll never leave."
It makes me feel warm
and I can't help but smile
when I think of the things he said
but all the while

I miss my best friend.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

Please contact me and I will email you back a copy of the

I did not know Ryan, but I am remembering on
this day he gave his all.
He is my hero.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers

Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still

We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever

Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away

Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go

We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light

Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray

Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound

Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

RYAN WAS MY BIG BROTHER. HE WAS AMAZINGLY FUNNY. MY SISTER PUT IT SO PERFECTLY, A ONE-MAN PARTY. HE WAS SO WISE, ALWAYS THERE. ALWAYS SAW THE GOOD IN PEOPLE. WHEN MY SISTER MET HIM, SHE WAS THE HAPPIEST I HAD EVER SEEN HER. THEN ON THEIR WEDDING DAY, I'VE NEVER SEEN TWO PEOPLE WHO WERE SO IN LOVE. I CAN'T THINK OF ANYBODY WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE PERFECT FOR MY SISTER. HE WENT TO DO WHAT HE THOUGHT HE NEEDED TO DO, AND I AM SO PROUD OF RYAN. PROUD TO CALL HIM MY BIG BROTHER. I LOVE YOU RYAN, AND I MISS YOU. GOODBYE FOR NOW, BUT WE WILL SEE YOU AGAIN ONE DAY. REST IN PEACE BIG BROTHER.

May the Lord send His peace to those who have given their lives in the call to serve others.
They have not died in vain for God has blessed their sacrifice.
They have paid the ultimate price for our freedom and they will never be forgotten.
They live on in the memory of those left behind.
They live on in the sunsets of another day.
They live on in that time, between asleep and awake, when you can still remember your dreams.
They live on in the Freedom enjoyed by this Great Nation. For each day that we are Free, they will never be forgotten.

My heart goes out to Ryan's wife and his family. Paul has been a good friend of mine for over 15 years and my heart just aches for him. Please know that we are praying for Melanie, Paul and the entire family.

Melanie, Charlie, Paul and family,
Ryan was a phenomenal friend to me. He and I shared many evenings together talking, laughing, and counseling each other on life and love. He embodied the meaning of a true friend. I know that he was a true friend to many people. I am just so happy that I was one of them. My life is better because he was in it. And Melanie, I spent A LOT of time over the years talking with him about you. And here is what I know… he has loved you for a long time and loves you with all his heart. He will be with you always.

For Ryan's Family:

What a wonderful legacy Ryan leaves us. It is rare in today's world that we see such a brave and giving person who "saw the good in everyone." May God truly give you the peace that only He can give as you go through this difficult time. Even though your hearts are broken, you have much to be proud of. How wonderful to have known and lived with such an unselfish person. May God bless each of you and give you the assurance that Ryan is in a better place.

Charles, Paul, Mel and Wendy,

I feel so proud that I got to be a part of Ryan's life. I remember fondly all those crazy things he used to say and do. Feeling like part of the family to come visit and laugh with Paul and Ryan. It was a great source of joy in my younger years. I will always remember his laugh and the joy he brought to all of our lives. I am only sorry that we lost touch in the passing years as far too many do after school is over and real life begins. I am happy, though, that I go back in touch with Ryan in the past several months of his life and to wish him luck in Iraq. I am so sorry that my first time in so long to see any of you was at the service yesterday. I only hope that much time does not pass again before we can say hello. I am proud to say that I knew a real hero. Thank you, Ryan, for believing in your country and for all you have done. We love and miss you. Goodbye, my friend, until we meet again.

Dear Mr. Bishop,

Evan and I are really holding you in our prayers and lifting you up to God at this time. I pray you find the strength to keep breathing and keep taking one day at a time. The only possilbe good news in this tragedy is that your first born son is again with his worried mother who loves him and is fully healed in the presence of our Lord Jesus. Evan and I know how dedicated Ryan was to anything he ever set his mind to, and with his faith in the leadership of our contry and military he gave the ultimate sacrifice for us here at home. His life. We and so many more people are thankful for young men like him who go beyond bravery to protect our right to live freely in the best country in this world and he will not ever be forgotten. Thank you Heavenly Father for the time we did have to get to know Your son, and please remind Mr. Bishop as many times a day that he needs reminding of Your love, Your Will, and Your timing and that Your Grace is sufficient for him and all of us. We'll see you when we get home from our nations capital. Being here during this time, really helps me realize what Ryan was fighting to protect, and we are humbled by his heroic acts. Our Lord said 'Greater love hath no man than this, that man lay down
his life for a friend.'
What a beautiful, fine gentleman Ryan was. And I appreciate deeply

Charlie, Paul, and Melanie.
I heard today for the first time about Ryan. I can't believe it. Someone, one of the great ones, so full of life gone too early. It was a joy growing up with Ryan and around such a great family like the Bishops. I remember so many great times with Ryan and you guys. I remember leaving a football game on a Thursday night and going to Kentucky with Charlie, Lynn, and Ryan for the lumberjack competition. I wasn't at all interested in lumberjacking, I just wanted to be with my friend. And what a friend. Melanie, I regret that I never got to know the woman that Ryan chose for his wife. You must be something very special. I will never forget my first best friend here in the states. So easy to get along with, so fun to be around, so hard to forget.

“Ryan, you have always been such a great friend, loyal, honest, carrying and true. Never have I met any one person who had all the right attributes that make up such an extraordinary human being. You have always been so animated and full of life, as if you where on top of the world at all times. I will miss your crazy pranks and antics. All the good times we shared and adventures we went through together. Though I only new you for a few short years, I will never for get you.”
- These were my last words to Ryan the day before he left for boot camp. Not knowing they would be my last.

To Ryan’s dad Charlie, wife Melanie and his extended family and friends,

Take comfort in the fact that every person Ryan met during the course of his life, he forever changed for the better. He died doing what he loved and who could ask for anything more.
Thank you Ryan. . . . . . you will not be forgotten .

Our Condolences. Mr. Wagner's fourth graders wrote to Ryan. We hope he read some of the letters. They thanked him and called him the "bravest person they knew", and some called him "my hero." We here at ACE were very saddened by the news. We called him "our soldier."
We feel deep sympathy for Melanie even though we never met her. We will keep you both in our prayers.

To the family of this fallen soldier, I wish there were words of comfort that I could say that would ease some of the pain, but rest assured that there are many who really appreciate what our men and women are giving to keep our homes and families safe. God Bless and keep you.
