Dear David, Mommy misses you so much. Your strength, your loving heart always thinking of others even on the day you went home to the Father. One of your friends wrote how on that last day in Iraq you lifted him and comforted him as he shared a loss he had faced. Till the end you encouraged others, my son, my gift from God. The Lord has blessed us David, as you know, He has given us many babies to love and cherish. I am loving them with the joyous love you shared in your time here with us. Thank you God for giving us David. Love you whole world and I look forward to being there . Love, Mama

Spring is here, this is always the hardest time of the year. You were still alive and would call and we would laugh and talk till you had to go. I loved that you called as often as possible. I miss you. Sometimes it still feels as if you will walk through the door and this will all be a bad dream even now almost 5 years since you went home to heaven. I wouldn't want you to leave Jesus, it is just so hard. Love you whole world, Mama

Dear sweet David, Your 25th birthday has come and gone. For the first time since you went to be with Jesus, we were unable to get together to celebrate the day God brought you into this world. Each family celebrated your birth where they were and it was good. We love and miss you son, as you well know and continue to look to the day we are all together with the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit and you sweet gentle child of the Living God. Say hello to Papa Great, and the Grandmas. We love you whole world and will by the Grace of God live to be there.

Prayer Shawls 4 Fallen Soldiers ([email protected]) is an organization with groups throughout the country who strive to send handmade prayer shawls and/ or lap robes to families who have lost a loved one in service to our country. Members of Trindle Spring Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA would like to honor your son’s sacrifice and memory by sending our prayers and comfort through a shawl which we will mail to you. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] with the names and addresses and what they would like to receive. We will send them as soon as possible. Also, if you know of any other families who are grieving the loss of a loved one who died serving our country, please pass along my e-mail address, as our organization can no longer get family contacts through the military. May God bless you and comfort you in the days ahead. Sincerely, Lynne

To the Lindsey Family,
I met David on my first deployment, when I came to guard force. I was originally the S-1 Clerk but got moved to guard force cuz they needed more Marines. I am glad they moved me to guard force, cuz I got really close to David ecspecially with him helping me out with what I was going thru with my Ex Fiance. I am so sad that he was gone but like my dad says, we will all see him in heaven someday. Ya'll are in my thoughts and prayers everyday. Along with Joshua K. Rafferty, they trained together and its hard for him to. Luv ya all and it will be a joyous celebration when we see David again!!!!

The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know David, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I just wanted to say I am sorry. I was looking online and came across his name and its been a few weeks now and I just found out. I went to school with him and joined the Air Force around the same time he joined the Marines. He was a nice and funny guy. “Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines
Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full
We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward
What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives
Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us
They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of lives that were lost for people unknown
Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

Please know how Deeply Sorry I am, for the loss of
this Brave Young Marine, David P. Lindsey,
As a parent, who has lost a daughter suddenly,
and as a sister, who has lost a brother to war,
I am aware of the deep and devastating pain
that you are experiencing.
The overwhelming heartache, seems to surface
through our shock, as the time passes.
Please hang on to your Faith and know that you will get through this. Ever so softly and slowly, time does heal.
May David Rest Safely, in the Loving Care of God
and know that he Will Never Be Forgotten.
I pray that the Peace of God will be with the Lindsey family.
I am the sister, of such a Young Hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago.
"Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and He shall sustain thee."

Dear Bishop and Lindley Families,
Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers and have been since I heard of David’s Homegoing to Heaven.
Your hearts are broken but in his death, David has touched so many lives, especially mine.
I had read about him but his death really came home to me Saturday morning.
At about 8 a.m. as my husband and I were traveling down Hwy 221 towards Roebuck we met a Sheriff’s car with lights blazing leading a hearse with a Marine Flag flying on the back fender. I just knew it had to be David! As I thought of the hero he is I said a prayer for you all thinking about the pain you are in. However, to know that he was a Godly Man must be of the greatest comfort to you. He is truly a Hero in the greatest sense!
May God continue to grant to each of you a special strength as only He can in trying times.
Love and Prayers,

Dear Mike and Nora,
I taught at Todd when David came to live with you. I shall never forget seeing David and Mike come in by the cafeteria in the mornings. What a gift you gave to David, the love of a Christian family. May God be with you at this time of sorrow. My heart is heavy for you. What a comfort to know that young men care for our country and go to protect our homes. My thoughts are with you and your family. You are in my prayers.

Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for us, Jesus Christ and the American Serviceman. One died for our soul and the other died for our freedom. I hope some day to thank them both face to face. Thanks Lindsey family for your sacrifice. I will forever be thankful.

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there... I do not sleep.
I am the thousand winds that blow...
I am the diamond glints on snow...
I am the sunlight on ripened grain...
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you waken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of gentle birds in circling flight...
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry-
I am not there... I did not die...

Mr. Bishop,
When I heard the news of your son's death, I could hardly believe it was true. Eventhough I've never met him in person, I feel as if I know him. Alyssa often comes home and relates stories that you have told the class about your family. We so enjoyed gathering things for his care package back at Easter. We had prayed for him and for your new grand children. My heart aches for you so badly and for your family. You have many students in your classroom but they only have one "Mr. B" and you are a part of our extended family. This is a terrible tragedy. I pray that in the days, weeks and months to come that God will bring you the peace that you need. God brought David to you and your family and you taught him how to love and how to protect his country. What a wonderful gift you gave him. We have been praying for your family and will continue to do so. Please know that you are supported, loved, missed and prayed for by your students and parents at Elizabeth. Your son died protecting all of us and we will not forget it. May the Lord be with you and hold you tight. My deepest sympathy, Shawn McNeary

Know in your heart that David is a true hero and will never be forgotten. All gave some, some gave all. Rest in peace David. You will be missed by everyone’s life you have touched.
To David's family, as the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life’s routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family, friends, and all Americans for the sacrifice of one of your family members for our freedom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May you find comfort in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father.

Mr. Bishop & Family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I pray for strength, wisdom, courage, and comfort that can only come through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He will keep you in the palm of His hands and guide you through the days ahead. I have never been so touched as I was on Monday at the special Memorial Service for David at Elizabeth School. It was a very meaningful and learning experience for all those involved. I will continue to pray for your family daily. God Bless~!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
