Trey, our sweet Trey. Its been 7 years now since your Dad died and you after him. Our Family loved you so very much. This year seems harder. Mosul is overtaken, and all the work you guys did is gone...BUT you didnt live or die in vain. You were the love of Anns' life. She and your Dad were so proud of you, Lura became Mom when Ann died and then you lost your sister17 yrs ago. You will always be the little guy who came to Moms and played ball out back with your Uncle Irad. It hurt losing you, and it really was hard on Irad. He loved you like a son. Trey you are home with the family, and we have a big empty hole where Ann's family once filled. Thanks Babes for your desire to do good. Still love you and will see you again. Becca Lee Kirkpatrick

i saw his picture on a memorial wall on ft bliss, i just want to remember how silly and happy he was, he was like a big kid, and always made me laugh. th couple times that he was over at my apartment with some friends, he would play with my cats, and talk about his family, and how he missed them. it really hit me seeing his picture, not because i knew him, but because he was innocent, trying to serve our great country, like all the other men and women on that wall, a simple man, who loved his family and friends and was just happy go lucky! Benny you are missed buddy!

PFC Bartlett was my roomate and a good friend of mine I was there when he was killed and I will tell you he fought like a warrior till the bitter end. And the world is a lesser place without him. The night before he died me and him were watching "We Were Soldiers" and he said thats why he joined the army not for the fight so much as the comradery between soldiers.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Benjamin, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

As the State Chaplain of the Georgia Sons Of The American Revolution and speaking for our President, Charlie Newcomer, III and more than 1,400 SAR members around the State of Georgia, may I most humbly express the condolences of a grateful Society. PFC Bartlett, wrapped in the integrity of service to our nation and the inestimable values of duty, honor and country, stood on a wall of freedom for us all. His life and his love of country epitomized every attribute of patriotism the Sons Of The American Revolution hold dear. And, as Americans, we could never repay the debt we owe him ..!! Nor the debt we owe you… his family!!!

Dear Bartlett Family & Friends,

"Trey"...My heart just aches, again for you, your family & friends.

30 Years ago, I lived in Shiloh and worked in Manchester, so my heart broke when I heard one of your own was lost.

Oh Lord..."Not another soldier, Lord."

As a mother of a soldier myself, my son returned from IRAQ last month...wounded, and, I too have lost a loved one to war, my cousin was killed in Vietnam.

Oh, how my heart aches for you & your loved ones, as well as, our other "sons & daughters" still in harms way...and, those wounded.

I'm SO sorry to hear of the loss of "Trey".

I only wish there was something I could do or say, to take all your pain away.

May God give you the grace, comfort & strength you'll need in the days ahead.

Trey, you're "A HERO in ALL our eyes!"

"THANK YOU" is never enough, we owe you & all those like you who have stepped forward, protecting us & our freedoms, our nation...we owe you our lives.

We shall NEVER FORGET you, son...your service, your sacrifice.

I will do everything I can, as long as there is breath in me...to honor YOU & the memory of those like you, in song.

I'd like to extend my condolences in prayer and, in song.

May God be with you all during this time and, bring you comfort.

In HIS service,

Susan D. Wiseman "The Tribute Lady"

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family. My daughter, Lisa, went to Flint River with Trey where he always had a smile and would say hello whenever I saw him at football games. We lived an hour from the school and Lisa's father was late one year to walk her across the field at homecoming. Not knowing if her father would make it on time, Trey stepped up and went looking for a jacket to escort Lisa. Even though her father made it before it was her time to go, I will always remember him coming up to me and telling me not to worry, he had it under control. I know Trey is in God's hands and he will always be remembered.

Then we lost Lura and all our family had left of Ann, and Lura was Ben and Trey. Just today we got the message that Ben too was gone in April. And now their pride and joy Trey gone in this tragic way. I can hardly breathe my heart aches for you all so much. We feel the loss so deeply. A part of our family is all gone. Now together again. To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
