To the family of David Badie, my heart goes out to you at this time. I lost my Son Dec 26 2008. he served in the Army and was in Mosuel Iraq when he lost his life. The ache you feel in your very soul will always be there but with time the memories you have will bring back the joy. I have asked the reason why so many times and I truly believe that God takes the good to save them from the evils of this world. I know my Son is in heaven and one day I will see him again. We want to say thank you. We understand that no words can be adequate for your sorrow. We certainly do not want to intrude upon your privacy. As Americans we want you to know that we deeply appreciate the ultimate sacrifice your loved one has made for all of us. To the family and parents of David I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. Love to a Fallen family,
I am so sorry to hear about another fallen Hero! I know there are no words that I can say to ease your pain! The loss of a child, husband or brother at such a young age is something that is the most difficult thing to bare! I wish there were something I could say that would ease your pain! We can only pray that one day we will be together again. I was told that if you stretch a piece of string a mile long and line that string with beads, the beads would resemble eternity. Life here on earth is equal to “only one bead”. We have only a short time here compared to the time we will spend in eternity with our loved ones. The only thing I can say is let faith keep you grounded in your life and hold on to your loved ones! This will help you through! It is what helps me get through my days. My son, Anthony entered into the Heavens to be with our Lord in 2007. We can never understand the reasons why our loved ones would ever be taken from us. I pray that one day our pain will ease!

Ward was killed in action in Iraq and my final promise to him was to never forget him and our fallen hero’s, we will never forget their commitment and sacrifice. David is my brother. he is the best brother anyone could ask for. There were time when my mom didnt have the time for us he would always take care of us. My brother and i talked everyday. I love and miss him so much. I could wait for him to come home. we were so close. He was my best friend. You will truly be miss and loved by lots. He joined the army to get his life in order. He didnt always do the right things and that is why he joind was to turn his life around.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Spc. David Badie our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for David. And to David it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made in combat while serving the U.S. Army and his country. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. David, you are a brave Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

My husband Joseph Henderson was at Asadabad with Badie. This is something that he wanted me to say.
Only a soldier knows what it means to be among brothers. When one is lost We are still one. We are no longer whole. Only We who've been called to blood Only We can know that surely we Rise and Fall TOGETHER. Badie joins us each night to drown our pain but he is gone again with the sunrise, leaving only brothers to face the day . When one falls We Brothers fight on living for each other.
Until the GLORIOUS day when the last is called home and we can once again be among Brothers.
My heart goes out to Davids mom and family. He was loved by everyone the knew him. He was kind and great and caring. He had a way about him and you knew you could trust him. YOU WILL BE MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTEN.
