Jerry Wayne Dooms

Jerry Wayne Dooms, 60, of Waynesboro, passed away Tuesday morning, September 2, 2008, at the University of Virginia Medical Center.

He was born February 19, 1948, in Waynesboro, the son of the late Frank and Elsie Arlene Claytor Dooms.

Jerry enjoyed motorcycle riding, playing golf, and being at the hunting camp with his brother and family. He worked for the Munday Company at the Invista plant in Waynes-boro.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Wilt.

Survivors include his wife, Gloria Jean "Jeannie" Dooms; two sons, Richard Dooms and his wife, Debbie, of Waynes-boro and Kevin Dooms and his wife, Teresa Dooms, serving in the United States Air Force in Italy; three brothers, Charles Dooms and his wife, Pat, of Stuarts Draft, Carroll Dooms and his wife, Carol Sue, of Staunton and Yourtha Claytor and his wife, Yvonne, of Waynesboro; two grand-children, Shasta Marie Dooms and Renee Elizabeth Dooms; and a grandson, Ryan Tyler Dooms arriving soon. He is also survived by three special nieces, Lori and Penny Dooms and Susie Bailey; a special friend, Ronnie Sweeney; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by Pastor Will Heyward. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park.

Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Sweeney, Pat Lauderback, Carroll Dooms, Charles Dooms, Larry Hypes and Calvin Bradshaw.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008, at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.
