To the Reynolds family. I know how late this posting is. Being in South Carolina I unfortunately get news sometimes very very late, but I felt compelled to leave a note. I knew Bruce since elementary school up through our days at Richard Bland. We were both Presidents of the same faternity at Richard Bland, and once he left, I made a few trips to JMU to see him. Bruce was loved by many and every person that knew Bruce is better off for it. Thinking of all of you!

Sonny, Brenda and Chris, I received one of the biggest shocks tonight of my life. I am so sorry to hear of Bruce's passing, I had no idea until a driver mentioned it to me tonight. I have been in sorrow ever since, thinking of what you must have been and are still going through. Please except my apology for not being there for you during this time. I still think of all the fun times we use to all have and I know Bruce will be missed by all that knew and loved him. May God be with all of you during this most difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I went to JMU with Bruce and had many, many great times with him. What a fun loving, full of life person. I have not been in contact with him for a couple years, yet I am still feeling his loss in a big way. I found out about all of this because, for some reason, I knew he was in the Richmond area and I googled him just out of the blue today...to my utter shock, I found this site. My heart goes out to all of you for such a great loss. You will be in our prayers.

It is with deepest sympathy and absolute shock that I am signing this guest book. Bruce obviously touched everyone that he came in contact with, leaving lasting impressions on each of us. He was such a great guy and will be missed terribly. It's been almost 20 years (sounds better if I say since graduation) since I have seen Bruce but hearing this news breaks my heart and has my crying like a baby. I will always cherish my memories of him. My heartfelt condolences go out to Bruce's family. Thank you for sharing him with us. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless.

Sonny, Brenda, and Chris,

We were truly shocked to have heard about Bruce's passing and immediately planned on traveling back home to attend his funeral service. Dean and I will forever miss his contagious smile, his charm, his big brother hug, and all the good times (before the years took us in different directions) we had. I know that Dean will miss him most since they grew up together from little tots to adulthood. Those years for Dean will forever be etched upon his heart and mind and will help him get through this tragedy with the memories he holds deep. We know that we all need that special someone to watch over us and I guess with Bruce we will. May you find comfort in knowing that Bruce was and always will be loved from all his friends and family. Always love and take care of each other and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers! When you miss him most look to the stars because I know he's looking at you too! We love you and miss you -

September 9, 2008

Dear Sonny, Brenda and Chris,
I write this with great sympathy to all of you. Like so many others who have signed this guest book, I am sorry to hear of the passing of a great man. I heard about his passing from my father who still lives in Chesterfield. He called to ask if it was "Big Bruce" that I grow up with. I was sad to inform him that it was. I first met Bruce when we played basketball together in elementary school. We went to every school together - from Salem Church Elementary, SC Middle and Bird High School and can never remember a day that he did not have a smile on his face. The impressions that he left on everyone is still remembered today - polite, caring and full of life. My father told me that he always remembers how Bruce would always address him as Mr. Norris and my mother remembers how she enjoyed coaching him in basketball. I hope that everyone that remembers Bruce holds on to the great memories that he allowed us to be apart of.
God Bless you all,
Ron Norris

We all knew Bruce's smile and laughter was bigger than life. Growing up in the neighborhood, spending time with the family and watching them grow and move away. His Mom was always the pretty one at all the games, His Dad the great big guy we all wanted as our Dad to sweep us up with a big hug and smile. His Brother the cute little kid following around his big brother. Bruce had the personality of them all wrapped up in one. The perfect guy. We didn't see or hear from him much as we got older, my family and I, but we always had him in our hearts, in our spirit, as we remember him today, and tomorow, his memory stays with us and teaches us the standard of how we wish our children will treat their friends and grow up to be. We miss you, buddy, and know that we will never forget you. Love always...Mom and Me

I just heard about your loss today and can hardly wrap my head around it. It simply takes my breath away. I am so sorry this has happened to such a wonderful loving family. It's been awhile since I have seen you guys, but I will never forget that smile and that wit that only Bruce Reynolds could display. My thoughts are all jumbled, but know that you all are thought of daily and prayed for and I wish you peace of heart. Chris, you know you can count on me as a friend. It breaks my heart to think of you right now. I know he was your best friend. I am so sorry.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Reynolds and Chris,
I am so sorry for your loss. Bruce was such an amazing person. In high school, his smile and personality could light up a hallway or a classroom. I ran into Bruce several times over the past year at various events; however, one memory stands out in my mind…at the Stew Festival, we chatted about how much he loved spending time with his family making stew. He didn’t share the secret recipe, but I think it is safe to say that there was a special ingredient involved that only a strong family has….faith, love and strength. While Bruce is now watching over as an angel (heaven just got a lot more fun!) know that the faith, love and strength you have as a family will get you through the days and months to come.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mr./Mrs. Reynolds & Chris,
Mike Prindes just called me this afternoon, I am sorry I was not in attendance. Bruce was my pal. I looked up to Bruce. A funny story; Bruce invited me to join "The Fellas" (B. Reynolds, D. Jones, A. Murphy, K. Fagan, C. Johnson) his Senior year of HS, my Junior year. What an honor to be in the gang, seriously. I guess it was sort of like a little fraternity. It was the first time I experienced the friends first, girlfriends later sort of thing. I know it sounds corny now, but it was cool back then. Bruce was the kind of Fella that ALWAYS had your back. He ALWAYS had time for you, to listen to your problems. He ALWAYS shared what he had. He ALWAYS treated you with respect. He is the kind of friend that you hug when you hadn't seen him in a while. The biggest compliment that I think I could ever give is that during the years we did hang out, he was like a true brother to me. I loved you Bruce. So long Brother.

I will always remember with fond memories the years at Potters Pub. Bruce was usually the first face I saw as I came around the corner. He had a natural knack for making everyone feel welcome. I received a phone call from a friend today. It was to let me know that we had lost a friend and former classmate from L.C. Bird High School Class of 1989. I didn't know what to say. I have read all of the other guest book condolences and feel that I have cheated myself from staying in touch with Bruce all of these years. I don't believe he had changed a bit, just matured, like the rest of us. Bruce was a good athlete and was an extremely nice person. I am so sorry for your loss and hope that you find comfort in your memories and your love that will always be.

It is with shock and grievance that I write this today. We both worked and knew Bruce very well. He was always a jovial guy and loved the "real" things in life. He always had a kind smile and knew how to make us laugh. We will miss him immensely even though years have past since we saw him last. He will always be in our thoughts and will always be remembered as "one hell of a story-teller". Our thoughts go out to the Reynolds family, as they were always kind to us and missed. Mr. & Mrs. Reynolds and Chris,

A beautiful light has just gone out in the world with the loss of Bruce. I grew up in Chester knowing him, attended JMU with him and even lived for awhile with him in Richmond. Oh my! Where to start. Bruce is and will alway's be a wonderful person. There are absolutely no words to describe what an angel Bruce was. Every time I saw Bruce he was the light in the stadium. Those beautiful, honest and loving blue eyes, the wonderful smile he always had, how we all loved him so much. I will never forget his hug. He would wrap his arms around you and you felt like no one could hurt you.It felt like a blanket of Love and happiness that you never wanted to leave. God is lucky to have such a wonderful man in his kingdom. Bruce will never be forgotten in the Leach Family! We loved him so much! My prayers are with his family.

Mr. & Mrs. Reynolds,
I am so sad. Bruce was a gentle, kind, loving young man. I will miss him terribly. Bruce would light up a room when he entered. But most of all I will miss his hugs. When he hugged you it was like his love just poured into you. Please know that my prayers and thoughts are with you and your family and that I will always remember Bruce with his beautiful face and the love that poured from it.

Skip Leach

September 3, 2008

Sonny, Brenda & Chris,

How can I begin to describe one of the finest young men that I have ever known. My son, Sean Leach introduced our family to Bruce when they were roommates at Richard Bland College. It didn't take long before Bruce became an adopted son and we spent many wonderful times with him at our home in Williamsburg when Sean and Bruce would show up for golf and drinks at our Country Club. Those two were living the life of Riley and were both broke college students. But boy did we all have great times sharing stories and laughing until we all finally hit the sack.

Bruce was one young man that loved life and gave all that he had to his family, friends and associates. He will be missed and I'm sure he's entertaining everyone in heaven with his wonderful smile and great sense of humor.

Sonny and Brenda thank you for letting us share your precious son and we will keep you in our prayers as you work through this very difficult time.

With much love and compassion,

The Leach Family

I love you and will miss you. This saddens me deeply. I cannot imagine what my aunt and uncle could be going through! I loved Bruce as if he were my own brother. Even though we rarely saw each other he was always in my thoughts. It really is sad that we all get so caught up in our own work and families that extended family gets put on the back burner untill a tragedy happens. In fact, the last time we were all together was when our granmother passed. We always say we will work harder at being able to get together more often, but we never do. I love all my family including my aunt Brenda, Uncle Sonny and Chris and I miss seeing them. I am here if you ever need anything. See you tonight. Love, Renee

My heart is so very saddened by this shocking and untimely death. Bruce was such a beautiful man...tender, caring, unselfish and genuine. He was like a brother to me. I will desperately miss his loving bear hugs, but feel comforted knowing that there is one waiting for me when it is my time to join him in Heaven above.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Bruce's family and loved ones during this unthinkably difficult time. May you find comfort knowing that Bruce loved you all very, very much. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.

I was just reading the obits and saw Bruce's name...Scott and I are in shock...As I'm sure you are...I just can't image what you guys are going through right now...I know it's been awhile since we have seen each other...I know we send Christmas cards but it's not the same as seeing you guys...Jason will every once in awhile say "Hey have you seen or talk to Sonny and Brenda"...We both have moved far from each other and our families have grown up so much...I can't remember the last time we saw Bruce...But to hear this I am so SORRY that this has happen to such a nice guy...Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Love, Scott & Shirley and families

My memory of Bruce from high school is that of an authentic and genuine guy. He always had a smile and warm word for everyone. He saw beyond himself.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Bruce's passing. I've known him forever...since we were kids in school. He was a wonderful guy and he will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Bruce and I attended middle school together and occasionally I would run into him when out with friends in recent years past. He was always so nice and kind and I really enjoyed catching up with him. Although we were not real good friends, his kindness towards me will not be forgotten.

May the Lord comfort you in the days ahead.

There are not many men out there who fit into "all" of these categories. Bruce absolutely did.
Honest, Respectful, Loyal, Funny, Witty, Handsome, Charming and just flat out REAL. A one of a kind gentleman. A very Gentle Man.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.

Dear Sonny & Brenda ~

I can't begin to think of what to say, without being (or sounding) inadequate, especially at this time in your lives right now.

Bruce will always be remembered as a super-friendly, and outgoing young man ... someone who truly loved to spend quality time with his family! Fishing, boating, camping, creating some awesome fund-raising Brunswick Stew with his Dad, ... A true 'chip off the 'old Block!'

You will be missed and mourned, not only by your family, but your family's friends as well, for sure!
