Charlotte Hayes Ridings

RIDINGS, Charlotte Hayes, 95, of Richmond, Va., died January 13, 2009 at Lakewood Manor, in Richmond, where she had been a resident since March 1991. She was born April 19, 1913 in Marshall, Va. and was a daughter of the late Rev. R.T. and Medora German Hayes. Mrs. Ridings taught various science classes at Broadway High School from 1956 to 1977 and had worked in the nursing field. She received her RN degree from VA Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1935. She completed her B.S. degree at James Madison University in 1963. She was a member of Broadway Baptist Church. On August 13, 1939, she married Weldon W. Ridings who died July 24, 1973. Surviving are two daughters and son-in-law, Elizabeth R. Wampler and husband, Sam, of Richmond, Danie Ridings Janov of Christiansburg, Va.; five granddaughters and spouses, Deanne and David Lane of Christiansburg, Lisa and Ken Cullinan of Waynesboro, Va., Denis and Mike Tadych of Raleigh, N.C., Laura and Mike Drill of Downingtown, Pa., Sarah and Adam Rex of Virginia Beach, Va.; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. John Bareford Sr. Rev. Darrell Boggs and Rev. Roger Austin will conduct a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Broadway Baptist Church. The burial at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens will be private. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
