Dear Mr and Mrs Saladino,
I had the pleasure of taking care of Lucy one clinical day at MCV (VCU). Even when she wasn't at her best she still touched my life. I am still very saddened by the news of her passing. She was an inspiration for me and will be deeply missed.

Beth, I can remember meeting you & Lucy when Kayla was diagnosed around the same time. We were both more than a little overwelmed. Through the years we have traded many "war stories" and a lot of laughs & holiday meals. I will always remember Lucy, Kayla & Ella sitting in the hall playing a boad game together. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Beth, Chris and Jack, your many friends mourn with you for a beautiful soul taken far too soon. She obviously touched a lot of folks with the joy and passion she got from you and shared with so many others. We're comforted only by the thoughts that she's no longer suffering and her spirit, humor and strength will carry on among those she touched.

Beth & Family - I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Lucy. I will always remember the both of us tearing into the Gayton parking lot to pick up our girls from the afterschool care(usually close to closing). Sarah and Lucy would be inside playing together, usually doing something horse related. From all the stories I have read, she grew up to be an outstanding young lady. My thoughts are with all of you during this time.

Lucy was such an inspiration to me. She always had a positive outlook on life. She will be greatly missed on M7C and we will always remember her. When I was a new grad, Lucy taught me so many things about CF. Every time I see Top Chef or Project Runway, I think of her. Her kind spirits, unforgettable laugh, and warm smile will never be forgotten.

My prayers are with the family, and my heart goes out to them. Its always a sad day when a young person dies, I cant imagine loosing my sister who is the same age.

I love Lucy Saladino. I didn't know her as a teenager. I knew her as a little girl. I knew her when she had her first PT and I knew her when she swallowed her first enzymes with apple sauce. I had the joy and gift of watching her grow strong and big with a Buddha belly she liked to show off. I knew her sassy and sweet. I knew even then, 15 years ago, that she was teaching me to be a better person. My heart is broken. I am so glad that she was born to such terrific parents who also served as a role model to me. And to such a sweet older brother who never gave his sister guff, but welcomed everything about her. Her life was too short. Her family the very best.

Lucy was an unbelievable young lady. Her sweet demeanor was so contagious you couldn't help to be in a good mood when you were around her. I always thoroughly enjoyed caring for her. She was one of those patients I was sad to leave after moving to Texas. I can guarantee that many nurses lives are better because we met Lucy, including myself! Thinking and praying for you always.

Dear Beth, I was very saddened to hear of Lucy's passing. Although I never got a chance to meet her, I've heard of so many nice things about her. I did have the good fortune of meeting you last year at the Great Strides Walk in Richmond. That was on my grandbaby Addy's first birthday. My thoughts and prayers go out to you, your husband and son. I'm sure Lucy is smiling in Heaven just as she did every day! May God comfort your hearts.

Dear Beth and Family,
I remember when Shelly and I participated in the Cystic Fibrosis walk at Deep Run Park and Lucy was taking donations. She accepted our small contribution with a gracious smile. I wanted to give more but she said don't worry, every little bit helps. I will always remember her spirit, brave, kind, and sweet. Beth, I am sending you thousands of hugs.

Lucy was a very special person. I still remember going to her hospital room doing her CPT! Between watching HELL'S Kitchen and playing cards or talking about what dress she wanted to get for a school function, I remember her always having a smile on her face and a positive attitude! Between Lucy and all of the other Angels of CF, Ive learned to live life with a new appreciation. I can truely say that Lucy was wise beyond her years! Breathe easy Lucy, for now you finally have your Wings!

Lucy was a wonderful girl. Sadly I didn't get the oppurtunuty to get to know her well, having only worked with her the past few weeks. She was always so polite and kind and made working with her nice. Her family was wonderful and you tell how close they were and how much they loved each other. I know that Lucy will be missed by many at MCV hospital but she won't be forgotten.

I am still in shock and saddened from the news I heard today. It was just last week that I was taking care of Lucy in the PICU. I was doing Chest PT on her while she watched a dog show on tv. She was laughing and talking about how cute the dogs were. She also loved to talk about her dogs. I have known here since 2006 and she has always been so welcoming and inviting. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her at MCV.
