Daniel Gwaltney Obituary

Daniel Gwaltney

June 25, 1990 - July 26, 2024

Daniel Robert Gwaltney, age 34, of Richmond, VA, went home on July 26, 2024. Though his time on earth was short, we find great comfort in knowing he has found his eternal peace with our Father in Heaven.

Daniel graduated from Mills E. Godwin High School in 2008, where his dedication and hard work earned him a spot on the football team. He truly lit up under those Friday Night Lights. He was a natural athlete and will forever be remembered as our #31. Daniel continued his education graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University with a BS degree in Business. A fearless fighter, Daniel met all obstacles head on with an unwavering determination, a true lesson in strength and perseverance for us all.

A self-proclaimed chef and artist, Daniel enjoyed anything creative. Most often, he could be found crafting a tasty dish or sketching his next masterpiece. Daniel loved books, reading and research. He always impressed us with his limitless knowledge; he was your guy for sports facts and music trivia. Daniel had an uncanny ability to seek out the underdog. His kind and caring heart served as a blessing to those fortunate enough to cross his path.

Daniel is survived by his father, Gary; his mother, Diane; his brothers, Erick and Kevin; and his sister, Morgan. He will be deeply missed, and we are forever grateful for the time spent with such a special Son, Brother, and Friend. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider donating to a local animal shelter in this animal lover's memory.

The family will announce a Celebration of Life gathering at a later time.
