Dondaldson Funeral Homes - OdentonLarry Jackson King, known affectionately as Jack, passed away on March 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 82 years old.
Born in Virginia, Jack made his home in Severn, Maryland, beginning in 1983. He met the love of his life, Charlene, while delivering medical supplies to her office. Charlene fondly shares that she wasn’t sure she would go on a second date with him, a story she now tells with laughter after 50 years of marriage to the love of her life.
Jack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Charlene King (nee Michael); his two sons, David Michael King (wife Shayla) and Stephen “Steve” Patrick King (wife Molly); and his two cherished grandsons, Dominic Alexander King and Jackson Thomas King. He was predeceased by his brothers, Franklin David King and Charles Gerald King.
Jack proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968 during the Vietnam era. Following his service, he pursued higher education and received his undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia and earned his Master of Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia.
He went on to build a distinguished career as a Principal Engineer, contributing to a wide range of projects across multiple companies. His lifelong work reflected his intelligence, dedication, and integrity.
An avid reader and lifelong learner, Jack had a deep love for knowledge. He particularly enjoyed non-fiction and science books and often enrolled in college courses simply to explore new interests and expand his understanding of the world.
Above all else, Jack cherished his family—especially his grandsons. He found his greatest joy in spending time with them, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
