Catherine "Kitty" Decker, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sr.; son, James Jr.; and daughter, Kelly.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories, survived by her devoted grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Jenn; Brittany and her husband, Bob; and William "BJ" and his wife, Nicole; five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Kayleigh, Bailey, Axel and Kaleb also held a special place in her heart; and two adored grandpuppies, Atlas and Arya.
Catherine, affectionately known as "Kitty," was a woman whose life was defined by her love for family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense joy in their accomplishments and happiness. Her love extended to every corner of her family, creating a bond that will endure in their hearts forever.
Kitty was an ardent fan of both Penn State and Notre Dame football, never missing a game and always cheering passionately for her teams. Her Sundays were often spent with friends at the Dorranceton United Methodist Church, where she found solace, friendship and community.
One of Kitty's greatest joys was gathering with her family at "the farm" in Hunlock Creek. These gatherings were filled with laughter, stories and the warmth of togetherness, creating treasured memories that will be cherished by all who were lucky enough to be a part of them.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Allied Health Hospice on Meade Street in Wilkes-Barre. Their exceptional care and compassion provided comfort to Catherine and her family during her final days, and their kindness will never be forgotten.
Friends and family are invited to a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kopicki Funeral Home, Kingston.
Catherine "Kitty" Decker will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
