I love giving speeches about what I am learning. I love watching people rise up to their ultimate potential and observe the radiance on their faces when they find their creative self. And everyone does, plus we have so much fun." (September, 1996).

A celebration of Nettie's life will be held Sunday, May 13, 2012 from 4-7 PM at Alley Park, 2805 Old Logan Road Southeast, Lancaster, Ohio.

Nettie

You taught me the meaning of cherished quiet times, the importance of a pretty pen, a fresh note book and the significance of journaling my thoughts and feelings.

Your Netti-ism's blossomed out of nowhere with such clarity and wisdom. You brought them to the surface and into the light.

Our long talks, tea & cookies, genuinely full belly aching laughs which included tears of happiness. I will miss the twinkle of mischief in your beautiful blue eyes, kindness, awareness, love and gentle ways.

I will miss you and think of you each time I gaze upon my lilac bush.

When my life's purpose is complete, I will see you on the other side my friend.

Much love, hugs and smiles

Maureen

Till we meet again

I still see you
Out of the corner of my eye
Through the mist of time
On some distant shore
Fully restored
Fully alive
Departed for a season
Yet fully present in my heart

These moments heavy
Learning to live
Without you
Like a child learning to walk
Sometimes stumbling
Sometimes running
Always with open arms
Still feeling your embrace
Hearing the gentleness of your voice

Love knows no boundaries
Of time and space
Distance only fleeting
Till we meet again

Smiling tears
These memories of you
Of shared laughter
And unknown pain
Carrying the burden of being
Human, temporal and fleeting
Yet eternal

I know in my heart
That we will never be apart
For in my heart
I will carry you
Daily, pensively
Till the dawn comes
And I remember you again.

I am grateful to Nettie for so many things - the light in her eyes and joyful smile when she greeted me. A hug full of love, spirit, and warmth. Long talks about whatever was in our hearts to share. Her humor, peace, and acceptance of whoever she was with allowed for some wonderful experiences. May her spirit know only of peace, joy, and love. May her family be blessed with great healing, comfort, and peace-of-mind during this challenging time.

I met Nettie in the 1970s and came to treasure her as a very special friend. I moved away from Lancaster in 1981 and last spoke to her during a return trip in 1982 when we talked at her kitchen table. Nettie, you touched so many lives including mine.
