George Ellis Obituary

ELLIS
Ret Maj USAF, George Brandon Ellis, entered into rest on August 1, 2010 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on May 22, 1926 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Robert G. Ellis and Theresa Cotten Ellis. He was married for 56 years to Doris Mathews Ellis, the love of his life, who preceded him in death in 2002. He is survived by his three daughters and their husbands, Cheryl and Thomas Troup, Deborah and Michael Griffin and Linda and Charles O'Dell as well as 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. George enlisted in the USN during WWII serving in the Pacific Theater. He then joined the USAF where after a total of 25 years of military service he retired as a major in 1965. After retirement, George and Doris became successful realtors in the San Antonio area. He also pursued other business ventures with his business partner of 35 years, Allen Hoxie. George was a Master Mason, Alzafar Shrine Clown and played trumpet in the Alzafar Drum and Bugle Corps winning state and an international championship. He was also a member of the Royal Order of Jesters. George loved hunting and fishing. At age 84, George held a commercial pilot's license with a current medical certificate and enjoyed flying his airplane and helicopter.
SERVICES
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. The Funeral Service will begin at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 also at the funeral home chapel. A Graveside Service will begin at 8:30 AM on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors, You may sign the on-line guest book at www.missionparks.com under the obituary section.
