Richard Forneris Obituary
Richard A. Forneris of New Windsor, a retired bus driver after 27 years of service for M.A.B.S.T.O.A. of the Bronx, NY, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 in Kindred Hospital in Wayne, NJ, he was 65.
The son of the late Andre and Margaret Dobbs Forneris. Richard was born on September 1, 1944 in Queens, NY.
Richard was a Navy veteran serving from March 1964 to April 1968; he was a naval reservist for the Seabee's Construction Battalion 13 at Camp Smith, NY, from which he retired in August 1994.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemary Slattery Forneris, at home; his two daughters, Theresa and her spouse, Fredric Clearwater of Newburgh and Annemarie Forneris of New Windsor; his son, Dennis Forneris of New Windsor; his three grandchildren: James, Megan, and Brian Clearwater; his brother, Lawrence Forneris of Flanders, NJ; many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, from 4-7:30 p.m. at Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc., 239 Quassaick Ave. (Route 94), New Windsor, Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Joseph's Church, 4 St. Joseph's Place, New Windsor, NY 12553.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Anthony V. Cracolici of the Hudson Valley Funeral Home, Inc.; 845-562-4411.

Its been 2 years and it doesnt get easier. I think of you everyday. This weekend was especially challenging celebrating the Superbowl win of the Giants but knowing you were not here to celebrate with, but in my thoughts the whole time. I knew Richie through our time in the Seabees MCB-13. We were both non-rated then late 1970's. Fun times for sure; you were always the life of the party. I knew of your death last year, got thinking about you as other friends have passed lately. Too young to die my friend, but we do not get a choice about it. Asthma is why I left the Bees, they did not want me anymore; I would have stayed in forever. You are not forgotten.

Uncle Richie always had such great stories, that never failed to make us laugh. His distinct voice was a welcomed sign of his arrival when he stopped by to say hi at the house. He will certainly be missed.

My condolences to all of the Forneris family. I proudly served with Richard in NMCB 13 for many years. He always made you laugh. I am so sorry for the Forneris's family loss. I know that your husband and father is in a better place now without suffering. He is looking down at his family and smiling knowing that he did a great job being a husband and raising his 3 children.. I was lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving with him last November.
