Ora Hume Obituary

Ora L. "Bud" Hume, 92, was born October 13, 1917, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and passed away September 21, 2010, in San Luis Obispo, CA.  Bud was three when his family moved to Seattle, WA, where he grew up with three brothers and three sisters.  Bud joined the Army in 1942, and he was sent to Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK.  While there, he met Frances Apple, a student nurse.  Frances became an Army nurse, and Bud and Frances were both stationed in Australia during WWII.   Bud and Frances were married following their military service, and they resided Seattle, WA, where their four children were born.  The family moved to Stockton, CA in 1955, and Bud was employed as a lithographer and graphic design manager for Fibreboard Corporation.  Bud and Frances later returned to the Seattle area, where Bud completed his career.  They retired in Lodi, CA, where they enjoyed many wonderful friends and were active members of the Calvary Bible Church.  Bud and Frances have resided in San Luis Obispo for the past three years.   Bud is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Frances, and his four children and their spouses, Mike and Gail Hume of The Woodlands, TX, Gary and Cathy Anderson of Arroyo Grande, CA, Mike and Sandie Hume-Tharp of Lake Oswego, OR, and Brian and Debbie Hume of Las Vegas, NV.  Bud's seven loving grandchildren are Nathan, Joel, and Joshua (Mike), Ashleigh and Tyler (Sandie) and Jeremy and Kristen (Brian).  Family members will gather in San Luis Obispo in late October to celebrate and honor Bud's life as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  Bud had great love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, his family and friends, and his country.

Dear Frances, I am so saddened to hear of Bud's passing. I still think of you both and remember the wonderful pies you gave us each month. Joe passed away 20 years ago and I'm still in the house. I also remember the Sunday you left Newport Covenant that we played a song about Lodi during the service. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this time.

Love, Arlene Bemben, Newport Covenant Church

To the family of Bud Hume:
I am saddened to hear of Bud's death and feel a catch in my throat as I remember his sweetness, thoughtfulness and warmth. My heart aches for Frances and her loss after a wonderful 65 years. For me, they were a source of loving friendship throughout many years of knowing them, whether near or far.
I am grateful to God for the memories and experiences of times with the Hume family and their impact on my life and that of my own family.
Love and prayers to you all.

To the family of Bud Hume:
We just heard today from Joan Hopson in Stockton about the passing on to Glory of our dear friend Bud.
We know he is with the Lord and being blessed greatly by the Heavenly Father.
There are not enough words to adequately describe what it has meant to us down through the years to experience the loving caring friendship of Bud and Frances. We always enjoyed being with them and it was such a special Blessing. We send our sympathy to Frances and to all the rest of the family. May God comfort you with the knowledge that Bud is enjoying peace and comfort with our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
We love all of you, Prayers , Al and Lois

Frances:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Your longtime friendship not only with us but with T.H. and Mamie Springer is treasured.
When I did visitation at CBC our visits were such a blessing and enjoyable.
God bless you and we know Bud loved the Lord and is now with Him.
