Laura Rosenquist Obituary
Laura was born in Lodi on July 2, 1974 to Gary Koepplin and Patricia Baker. She attended Lodi High School. She worked for her father's company, American Auto Body, from the age of 18 until just recently.
In 2008, she married Grant Rosenquist, of Lodi, on a beach in Mexico. It was the perfect day as they were surrounded by the love of her closest friends and family. Laura enjoyed traveling the world, visiting their family's beach house in Aptos, hosting dinner parties, remodeling and decorating to make their Lodi house a home. Her happiest days included hammocks on tropical beaches, hip hop concerts, browsing thrift stores and flea markets, enjoying exotic food and creating art and jewelry. She loved her cat, Bindi, and often joked about being a stay-at-home mom to her cat.
Laura had a contagious laugh and beautiful smile. She looked at the world through a creative lens. All of Laura's life she was known for her creativity. In her home art studio, Laura painted large canvases, covering them with flowers, vintage gypsies, and her favorite, blackbirds on telephone wires. She was most comfortable with a paintbrush or pencil in her hand. She would spend hours making earrings, necklaces and artistic pieces for her friends and family. Her inspiration to create was for her friends. Her bright spirit was something everyone talked about. She loved life. She loved people. Laura made many friends from her infectious smile and outgoing personality. Laura felt deeply and felt a connection to all things beautiful.
Laura was diagnosed with melanoma in February. She battled the cancer fearlessly. However, in the end, she went quickly and peacefully.
Laura is survived by her loving husband Grant Rosenquist, her father Gary Koepplin, step-mother Katie, and brother Shannon Koepplin. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Baker. Laura will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
A celebration of Laura's life will be held at Wine & Roses in Lodi on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to our charity, The Elizabeth Rosenquist Foundation (soon to be the Liz and Laura Foundation!). Gary,Katie,Grant& Shannon, I wish things were different,it seems that GOD is takeing away from us the ones we love to soon. My heart goes out to you all, looseing someone you love is a hard hit to take in life and it changes the way you feel about things in life and how you feel in general everybody is different and no one knows how you feel they can only relate to what you just went through if they have gone through it before. It takes time to except the loss and all the sorry's in the world dont change anything (but your mood) they let you know who cares about you and your feeling, so even though it gets old to hear that word "SORRY" and it sometimes makes you more upset think of it as a word from thoughts with feelings, "you think your own thoughts, you create your own feelings." Laura is a wonderfull person who will be greatly missed by us all and she will never be forgotton she will always be here in her spirt with everyone showing her love and devotation she has for the people she loves. I lost my mom soon after she was told she had pancriatis cancer Nov.2005, she passed away Jan.10,2006. I was so sad to hear about Laura. Many of my memories from elementary school include Laura, I was so fortunate to live across the street from such a great friend. I remember when Laura had her first sleepover at our house. Her freckled face, her smile and the fact she always introduced herself with her full name remains a sweet picture in my mind. I had the pleasure of metting Laura as a freshman in high school and was glad to call her a friend during our four years there. Though many years went by without hearing from Laura, I bumped into her about two years ago and she was the same friendly, smiley person I remembered. I think the obituary describes Laura to a "T". I have had the opportunity of being Laura's business friend for 10 years. We have never met or seen a picture of each other but we have talked on the phone often. She has always had the ability to brighten my day with each conversation. You could feel her smile through the phone. She was always positive and friendly each time that we would speak. I was so saddened when I opened the paper this morning and read about Laura's passing. I spent many sleepovers with Laura 5th - 8th grades. As many teens do, we lost contact through high school but always remained friends. I recently saw Laura's picture in a Women in Business ad and wanted to contact her, but never did. I wish now that I had, Laura was one of the most warm hearted individuals I knew, even as youngsters.
