Aaron Purmort's Secret Identity

Today, a hero will be interred in Minneapolis. Father, husband and life of the party, Aaron Joseph Purmort was many things to many people. And if his obituary is to be believed, he was also superhero. Purmort wrote his own death notice, in which he reveals himself to be Spider-Man, having endured "a radioactive spider bite that led to years of crime fighting and a yearslong battle with a nefarious criminal named Cancer."

Purmort died last month. He passes on to his son, Ralph, the duty to "grow up to avenge his father's untimely death." Purmort's obituary keeps a lighthearted tone and comes through with a voice of someone who most likely was "the most fun person at any party." In a post on her own website, Purmort's widow, Nora, explained that before her husband died, "we had time to sit down and write his obituary. I've never laughed and cried more in one sitting."

To support Purmort's family, friends have created a fundraising page that has already exceeded its original $100,000 goal. Share the Purmorts' story with your friends and loved ones, and view and sign his Guest Book.
