Who is this coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved?’" - Song of Solomon. Know that Rachel is with her beloved. And even now, she is sharing her story. I looked up this verse on the Internet and Rachel's story came up as the #1 listing. Rachel's life of faith continues to be a blessing to many.

Since I heard of the tragedy I have had your family in particular on my heart and in my prayers. I will continue to pray over the months ahead. As a pastor I know that there will be times when you will need special grace. I trust the Holy Spirit will prompt me and many others to remember and lift you before Abba's throne of grace.

Hello Rae,
My name is Cathy Cortés and I am a teacher at Lenape Valley High School in Stanhope NJ. In remembrence of the victims who's lives were tragically taken from us, we have dedicated a moment of silence each day to each of the victims. My tribute was to Rachael and I just want to say that it was an honor to pay tribute to such a wonderful human being. I feel like I'm her friend now, and she will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

To the Hill Family;
I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Rachael. How very unfortunate for the family to have to go through this. It can be comforting to look at what God has promised us regarding the resurrection and being able to see our loved ones again (John 5:28,29) I hope that Jehovah God will strengthen the family during this time of need and that He will draw them closer to Him for comfort.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hill,
I did not know your daughter Rachael, but I want you to know what a blessing her testimony has been to me already. Not too long ago, I did alot of reaserch on the Columbine tragedy. I discovered the testimonies of Rachel Scott and Cassie Bernall, who were both tremendous young Christian ladies who were killed in that horrible event. God definantly brought something good out of the Columbine tragedy through their testimonies. Many people have been saved as a result of hearing them. Any time something tragic like this happens, testimonies like theirs shine as a light for Christ, for good and for what's right. To me, your daughter Rachael's testimony is that light amid the VT tragedy. I know that words like these that I'm sharing can never heal the pain you must feel, but I want you to know that the life Rachael lived for Christ is still touching hearts from beyong the grave! ... "and their works do follow them"... (Rev. 14: 13) May GOD heal your pain and help you through Paul's words of comfort to the church @ Thessolinica (1Thess. 4:13-18).
GOD Bless,
Randy Brooks

We were at the memorial service at Grove Avenue Baptist Church for your beautiful Rachel. Her life has already touched ours as a testiment to the Grace of our loving God. We will continue to pray that God will supply all your needs according to His riches, especially the needs only known by the grief of a mother and father. We pray, too, that Rachel's life will continue to live on through others who will come to know Christ through her testimony.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am the sparkle in the snow.
I am the shredded leaves that blow.
I am the sunlight on growing grain.
I am the gentle summer rain.
I am the quiet bird at night.
Circling about; Taking flight.
So do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

To The Hill Family:
I am writing this brief note to your family because I so deeply feel that when we are faced with the sudden loss of someone so very dear to us that it is one of the hardest things in our lives we will have to face. Yet, I would like to share with you something that touched my heart, it is the knowledge that God will respond to our persistent prayers to help us through any tough time such as this. At Philippians 4:6 and 7 it says that "the peace of God that excels all thought will guard your heart and your mental powers." Please know that my prayers are with you at this time and I urge you to continue to pray for strength to get through the rough moments ahead. -- Psalm 55:22

RISE UP SLOWLY, ANGEL
Rise up, slowly, Angel.
I cannot let you go.
Just drift softly midst the faces,
In sorrow now bent low.
Ease the searing anger,
Born in harsh unyielding truth
That Death could steal my loved one
From the glowing blush of youth.
Rise up slowly, Angel.
Do not leave me here alone,
Where the warmth of mortal essence
Lies replaced by cold, hard stone.
Speak to me in breezes
Whispered through the drying leaves,
And caress my brow with raindrops
Filtered by the sheltering trees.
Rise up slowly, Angel,
For I cannot hear the song
Which calls you through the shadows
Into the light beyond.
Wrap me in your downy cape
Of sunshine, warm with love,
And kiss a tear-stained mother's face
With moonlight from above.
Then wait for me at sunset,
Beside the lily pond,
And guide me safely homeward
To your world,which lies beyond.
Just spread your wings and take me
In reunion’s sweet embrace,
And we shall soar, together,
To a different time and place.

To Rachael's family and friends,
Our heavenly father promises at Isaiah 41:10-"Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not gaze about, for I am your God. I will fortify you. I will really help you. I will really keep fast hold of you with my right hand of righteousness". May you grasp hold of his hand and allow him to guide you through the coming days, months and years. May you gain comfort from these additional scriptures:
Isaiah 25:8-"He will actually swallow up death forever."
Revelation 21:4-"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
My husband was lost on 9/11 and these scriptural promises comfort me greatly.

To The Family of Rachael Hill-My sympathy goes out to you & your family. Take comfort from God's word and it will strengthen you. John 5:28,29 tells us: "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." Know that Jehovah God cares about what you are going through & you can throw your burdens on Him.(PS 55:22) Take comfort and draw strength for His word during this difficult time.

Hill, Rachael Family and Friends,
In The Garden
Night has fallen in the Garden of Fate, Peaceful and silent, as destiny a waits. Coolness and dew, tragedy and tears. Mist of the earth, confirming its fears. Time taking it's toll, as footsteps are heard. Jesus enters the garden, not saying a word. His soul exceeding sorrowful, even unto death. Anguish revealed, by the sigh of His breath. A shelter of comfort, a longing to ease, covering the man, in the shade of the trees. Rocks lending strength, to His weakened state. Bearing His burden, holding His weight. Meadow grass softening His grief and His pain, A blanket of compassion, yet sadness remains. No longer able, to hold composure in place. He drops to His knees, tears streaking His face. As agony engulfs, more earnest in prayer. In the depths of His heart, emotions are bared. His sweat, as it were, great drops of blood. Fall to the ground, as a tormented flood. Father, all things are possible to Thee. If it be Your will, let this cup pass from Me. His face to the heavens, My Father Divine... Nevertheless, not my will, but let it be Thine. No truer example has ever been set... Than the love of Jesus, to pay our sin's debt. Obedient till death, He gave us His all, Would you open your heart, taking heed to His call? Enter the garden, and examine your will, Could you die to self, letting God be fulfilled? It may not be easy, but His glory will shine... When you give Him your all and say... Not my will, but thine.I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your daughter. I will keep her in my prayers and I hope you and your family will remember all the good times she has given you.

We do not know you. However, Rachel was and STILL is known to JESUS by her name. He knows the pain and anguish that you, as her parents are going through. We, living in afar off Dubai (United Arab Emirates) share this grief. We have been praying for all the families affected by this tragedy. May you find the peace and comfort which only the LORD can give you, as HE knows the pain, the grief and the anguish that you are going through.
All of the unanswered questions that you have, will be answered on that last day, when you will be re-united with Rachel..... and then there will only be joy, as the LORD would have wiped away all of your tears.

Mr. and Mrs. Hill,
You have my heartfelt sympathies. Losing Rachael, I know has devastated your family. I have read several things about Rachael and I am impressed that she was a treasure. Mr. Hill made the statement that the family, "just needed some time" and that is certainly understandable. My heart aches for you all. The most important thing about grieving is to do it, to go through the process of healing. Right now is perhaps, not the time to talk about this. I want only to share encouragement. Psalm 34:18 says, "Jehovah is near to those who are broken at heart, and those crushed in spirit, he saves". Go to him in prayer and allow him to help. "Cherish the memories"

We would like to express our deepest sympathy for your loss. The loss of someone close is difficult to bear. It is our hope that you know that we care. The Bible brings sure comfort for all the ones we have lost and answers such questions as: Why do people grow old and die and What happens to us when we die? God promises a time when death will be no more and this is found at Revelation 21:4 which reads: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourn nor pain anymore. The former things have passed away." I hope this brings you some comfort.

Who is coming up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved?
It is she, Rachel, brining peace like a dove
She held on to her faith with a tight grip
She would not be the one to allow imperfection to cause slip
The thing that rivaled her Lord in her love
Were shoes oh those beautiful shoes that fit like a glove
There was a collection she kept with detailed care
She even noticed others footwear
Volleyball held her attention for a span
She was not only a player but a fan
Her relationships she worked to maintain
More through tribulation “Not without pain, but without stain”
She loved her parents with her rich heart
Rachel’s reality and intelligence of this Earth will always be a part

When we lost our 21-year-old daughter, also a college student, in a tragic car crash six years ago we never would have thought anyone would understand the pain we have been feeling. But to Rachael's family, know that there are thousands who know what you are feeling and we know that while the pain will never ever go away, it will gradually ease and you will one day be able to smile again when you think of the times you cherished with Rachael. This is a time when you are feeling tremendous support from people all over the world. Soon you will be alone with your grief and you will need to support each other as never before. Seek counseling; seek out others like you as I am with this message. You will find comfort and strength, and Rachael will remain forever. She sounds very much like our daughter, Cerina. Family and friends of Rachael,
I never met your beloved daughter but feel in my heart your deep pain. I pray Jesus will comfort your hearts during this time. I too lost my only child a 17 year old daughter last year. I know your grief and pain. He will see you though this darkest time. I wanted to share something that the spirit laid on my heart when I faced this darkest time.I hope that it will bring a moment of peace. May GOD our Father in Christ bring the peace that surpasses understanding.
To my beloved daughter,
Since the day god blessed me with your birth, I tried to raise you not of this earth.
Your faith in Jesus never did you hide, you wore the cross until the day you died.
Your soul went to heaven as wings of a dove, now you praise Jesus with all of your love.
Although you were never a mother or wife, you have so much more, you have eternal life.
What better way to pause our story, then for you to be with God and all of his glory.
For in the ground you do not lay, you are singing for Jesus this very day.
Until the day my work here is complete, then I too shall kneel at his feet.
When our story resumes we will be in heaven, again singing and praising his name together, Oh but this time it will be so much better.
When God says its time, you and I have a date for on that day you will meet me at the gate.
Until that day my lovely daughter, our memories I will always harbor.

Strangers but yet very much part of the same family . . . the family of God. May you continue to find strength in His love. May you continue to find comfort in those He sends your way just when you need them. May you continue to put your faith in a God who will never leave you, nor forsake you. So many questions, so few answers but we rejoice in the fact that Rachel is not resting in Jesus' arms. Safe from what the world has to offer. From what we have read, she sounds like a beautiful child - one that any parent would be proud to call their own. God was indeed proud to call her home that day. What a testimony she was while on earth and what testimony will still continue to come from her through her death. Know that many are praying for you today and in all the days yet to be.

I did not know you or your family. But I don’t believe there is a person in the world whose heart has not been touched by this tragedy. There is nothing in this life that brings us more sorrow than to lose loved ones in death. Even harder to bear is when the lives of loved ones are lost due to an unexpected tragedy. The shock can be overwhelming.
Be assured that God promises that he…”is near to those that are broken at heart; and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.” (Psalms 34:18) Nothing can bring us more peace of mind than the inspired words of… the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) Take comfort and solace in the Bible's message as we all await the time when GOD…” will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:3,4)

Dear Allen & family,
I am so sorry for your tremendous loss. Allen, I have not seen you in a few years. I used to xray for Dr. Kona and Dr. Grasinger. I have been reading about Rachel. What an amazing beautiful daughter you raised. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Mr& Mrs. Hill,
I've never signed a guest book for a complete stranger before. But I felt compelled to reach out to you and tell you that you are in my prayers. As a mom ,I pray that God will hold your daughter in His arms and hold your family close to him as you find your way in this world without Rachel.

I am saddened to read of your loss and yet joyous that Rachael had such a testimony. I am friends with Dawn Raub who teaches at Grove Avenue Christian. I was reading online and saw Rachael's name and recognized the school's name. Being a former Christian school teacher myself my heart goes out to the student body at Grove Avenue as well. May our loving heavenly Father give you great peace. What a legacy such a young girl leaves. You are in my prayers.
