Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Ayers Family know that we just made a small donation to the Children of Fallen Soldiers in honor of Jonathan R. Ayers US Army Corporal. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

To the family of Cpl. Johathan R. Ayers,
I wish to express my condolences for your loss. I know the pain you and so many families of Chosen Company are going through now. I lost my son from Chosen Company’s second platoon in January. My son was proud and honored to be able to serve with the heroes of the 173rd. Their legacy will live on with their brothers-in-arms, family, friends and a grateful nation. Today in the prayers of our church we prayed for Matthew and his recently fallen comrades. Though all of this pain, I can imagine a joyful reunion of these brave men in heaven.

To the family and parents of Jonathan I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

Dear Bill, Suzanne & Josh,
I know you will not remember me, but I certainly remember your family and today I was so very saddened to hear about Jon. Jon and my son CJ played soccer together for a few years and I was the soccer team mom. I sat through many games with each of you. I remember Jon with fond memories as a well respected young man, so kind and gentle, not to mention a good soccer player to watch and admire.
If I tried to put into words how deeply sad we are, I would come up short. My heart hurts for all of you and my humble thanks to Jon for his service.
I would have loved to send you a card but I do not have an address or phone number. I tried a phone number but it came up wrong. Please know that my family is deeply praying for yours during this very difficult time.
In deep sympathy,

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to CPL Jonathan R. Ayers our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jonathan. And to Jonathan it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made in combat while serving the U.S. Army and his country. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Jonathan, you are a brave Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

Bill, Suzanne & Josh,
My heart was touched so deeply yesterday and I know you are sooo proud of your baby. I wish I had some great words that would feel the void in your heart, but I know that will never be done, for that hole is a special place for your son. I read this poem and thought that it was what Jon would like to tell you
Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play,smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let me name be every the household
word that it always was.
Let it be spoken with affect,without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that is ever was.
There is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near just around the corner.
All in well.
Love You
Pam

I went to school with Jon at Shiloh High School. We were in the AFJROTC together. He was in A Block with me during my senior year, and we also served on the Drill Team together. He was a great person, and I was saddened to learn of his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. He will never be forgotten for the person he was to his community and his country. May God bless you. Buck Clack

Dear Ayers Family: I am shocked and saddened by the news which I just heard from my son Chris. Chris and Jon were in Junior ROTC together at Shiloh and performed the color guard presentation that won the state title. Chris remembers Jon as always being very friendly and dedicated to his ROTC duties. He died a hero and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We send you our prayers and heartfelt sympathy. Bill and Suzanne, We have been friends for many years, and words are not enough to express our feelings for your tremendous loss. We can only cling to the many memories we have of your family and ours. Jon was a big part of our lives, from his friendship with Tyler. There was a time when they were inseparable. They first met in elementary school. Soccer was the greatest thing for them. Yes, Jon could play any position; because he was a leader both on and off the field. I know that your strong faith in God is helping you through this difficult time. Please find comfort in knowing that we are here for you.
